Display MoreThat’s something I observed. It puts a target on their backs.
I think those lyrics are harmless, but a lot of K-pop fans can’t stand it for some reason. They have a strong aversion to the braggadocio often found in hip hop. I’m referring to both I-fans and K-fans.
This is my theory on why the rappers of groups seem to get the most hate. Examples: Jennie, Lisa, RM, Suga, G-Dragon, T.O.P, Soyeon
There’s a certain cockiness to their swag, and a lot of K-pop fans can’t stand that because they expect idols to be perfect, cute, and humble all the time. These rappers I mentioned are humble, but it seems like people just can’t get over the wordplay and the on-screen persona.
Of course those lyrics are harmless, BUT if that's all they do, it means shit, basically. Also, I can't take the lyrics seriously if it comes from a teen who never experience real life or struggles! Not to mention, didn't write a single line in their lives.
I love diss tracks, but only when it's done right! This in your face madness that many Kpop "rappers" do nowadays, is too much. The best diss tracks are when the target actually doesn't know you're dissing them. If you spell out everything, what's the point?
If I hear: "I'm a billionaire, I'm a pretty girl, I'm on the top, no one is better, you can hate me all you like, but you can never be me." or something like this, well, this is just pure cringe fest! This lacks creativity!
I didn't see any of those people you mentioned getting hate for their diss tracks or if they're bragging about something. Only Lisa and Jennie. To be honest, they don't belong in this conversation, because they're not real rappers, never wrote actual diss tracks, and their rap parts were always cringe, especially if it was about bragging. Mostly because they didn't write it. Like I said, I can't take rich kids seriously, especially if they're not involved in the writing as so called rappers.
The others are clearly knows how to write rap music. I mean, Soyeon debuted in Unpretty Rapstar, it was literally about dissing the competition. GDragon and the rest also proved over the years, they can brag about anything.
I know I will get a lot of heat for this, but other than Lisa and Jennie, there's no problem with the others, because they're real rappers. JenLisa is not! When they actually start writing their own verses, they can be included in this conversation. But so far, they didn't do anything, and pretty much all of their rap parts were about their fame and money.
Real female rappers start with Moonbyul (HIP is the prime example for a good diss track and bragging), "Hwasa - I do me" also a good example, she wrote it as a 15 year old about her own CEO. 😂 Also, CL, Jessi, Hyoyoen, Moonsua, and so many others.
This is why I didn't like IVE's new song either. The lyrics were cringe as hell. I don't remember which song was that, but there were multiple songs from mainstream groups with the same type of lyrics. Even Babymonster had one, and that was also cringe.
So, in short, for those who don't like to read long essays😂:
Diss track and bragging is good, BUT ONLY if they actually write those lyrics, and they proved themselves already in this game.
I mean, no one take Eminem seriously till he proved himself! And being popular and rich has nothing to do with that!
