at the end of 2024, KPop fell into a subjugation by Australians.
Roseanne Park, MBE, is technically a New Zealander but she has lived in Australia for quite a while. Her song APT., with Bruno Mars, contains no Korean except at the beginning and did not involve any Koreans but it was declared the #1 song of Korea in 2024.
Meanwhile, New Jeans, with its 2 more prominent being Australians, was declared the #1 act.
Seventeen is in a clear decline and cannot move away from Asia, while Stray Kids, led by Christopher Bang and Felix Lee, Australians (although Christopher Bang was born in Korea, something he prefers not to emphasize), will be the #1 boy act in Korea, even probably topping BTS in terms of sales on 2025.
So in a sense KPop has been conquered by Australians.
Will existing KPop acts be able to throw out the Australians in 2025 or do you think the Australians will strengthen their hold on KPop? KPop is now no more , having become an appendage of Australian pop.
