Who is the most successful and biggest Kpop group to come out of SM?

It’s honestly sad that people don’t even consider Exo in these kinds of discussions about the most successful SM groups anymore. SM really messed up with them and didn’t manage them properly, and it’s hard not to hold a grudge over it.

SNSD easily.

NGG, culture icons, face of SM, hallyu leaders, digimon, the outright best album sellers for a bit, endorsed everything in the universe, constantly on TV etc etc.

Exo and SNSD. Soon Aespa will be up there too if they keep having hits.

This one is hard to decide because all SM groups succeeded at something and most if not all are legendary. So, it depends on what criteria you use.

In terms of longevity TVXQ, Super Junior and Shinee are still killing it.

In terms of awards, recognition and success, for me its:

Exo and Snsd.

Exo wasn't promoted well enough to reach their full potential but they still killed it and still do individually. I don't know how many groups would survive losing the 3 most popular members or 4 members from a country that makes a group very good money and still thrive for 13 years. Exo is an anomaly in Kpop.

Snsd on the other hand were managed so well as a group that they became the face of the whole Kpop industry till this day. And, they have a whole Taeyeon and Yoona killing it in their respective fields, Jessica proving that idols can still defy a blacklist from a huge label, Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun paving the way for going solo without officially disbanding and doing whatever you want.

Aespa might join the list if they will grow in next few years

They both got digitals and physicals (at that time they compete with bgs)

Why isn't Exo getting mentioned more they are easily the most successful SM bg

I think when a full group comeback finally happens and it is properly promoted, they will establish themselves as the biggest SM act. All SNSD have is popularity in Korea but they aren't more successful imo

Girls' Generation becauce of the long stability as a top group and the iconic legacy they have, Exo lacked that.

No other group is even close.
