  • atropos

Changed the title of the thread from “Nmixx - 별별별 (See that?) - Bop or flop?” to “Nmixx -See that? - Bop or flop?”.
  • all that teasing and hype for this mess? what kind of chorus is that? it actually hurts the ears for God's sake

a disjointed unlistenable mess as expected

  • I like it after listening to it two times

most important was checking what is it all about

    because Korean title is

    별별별 - byeol byeol byeol

it can be mistranslated in google translator but

    one byeol is a star

if you put two byeol it might mean "all kind of (things)" so like all-stars

overall if helped me understand lyrics when I got the point and it fits theme and MV well

  • See that? - this is bold and good, the track is not K-pop at all, it's not like they decided to go as far away from the K-pop style as possible. It seems to me that such tracks can be easily recommended to outside listeners, as always the most interesting are the verses, not the chorus. In general, I will listen, it's fire. :lighter-pepe:

  • Actually the girl already talk about the korean meaning of the song

  • It's between BOP and BLOP for me. So I would say good. Actually, some elements feel very nostalgic for me, but I can't point out. It causes a feeling of sehnsucht in me. I'll give it a BOP.

I like "Red light sign, but we go" more though.

  • it's not good. like i really wanted it to be good but i can't pretend that it's nice to listen to. it's so horrible though so i'll give it blop.

red light sign and beat beat are pretty good though

  • BLOP!

I think See That is one of THE prime example when the MV ruins the song. The video editing is REALLY BAD! I'm not talking about the VFX, but as an editor myself, the breaks between scenes is too much, and it makes me feel, I hear 3 different song. It's all over the place!

I think, Kpop agencies NEED to stop with this madness editing where they put breaks in the MV's, because people, mostly kids, only watching MV's, and don't listen to the songs itself. Many people rating a song, based on the MV as well. The visuals, not just the VFX, but the visuals of the girls or boys affecting their opinions.

BUT when you listen to the song itself, it's MUCH BETTER! It's not their best song, but it's good.

The album overall is versatile with different genres, but it's only average! 3 good songs, and 3 below-average.

    My ranking of the songs:

    1. Moving On

    2. Love is Lonely

    3. See that?

    4. BEAT BEAT

    5. Red light sign, but we go

    6. SICKUHH (Feat. Kid Milli)

  • I am sorry this is not a good song. It's all over the place. I don't even know what the chorus is.

Are they going for Girl Group -Stray Kids version? It really similar to SKZ videos, vibes and aesthetics.

  • It's the same for me. I just listen to the music since that's all I really care about, but on a second watch I will watch the MV. I think it stands find on its own. But for many more casual or even non-fans, the video is just as important. My ex-girlfriend would never listen to any K-pop I would suggest if it didn't have a proper music video (dance practices and stages didn't count).

This is funny actually. I watched a video last night where a commenter gave the creator the hot take "if NMIXX were a bg, they wouldn't be getting this amount of hate: look at stray kids" and the creator agreed. Now I feel like I need to listen to SKZ because I feel like I'm missing out on an experience :leaving-bee:

  • i also thought the editing was really bad and some scenes looked super amateurish

however i never feel like the mv affects my scoring of the music, it's really separate in my mind

  • Very close to piece of shit, but that is maybe to go a bit too far. well, it have some good part mabye, but overall, meh......

Feels like it's mostly about looking nice in the MVs and cool effects and not about having a good song these days.

I love Nmixx too. I'm not their biggest fan, but I like their music. The MV overall is good, but I'm not sure a casual Kpop fan or even a non-Kpop fan would like this song if they only watch the MV. It was almost like a highlight medley of 3 songs.

There was a scene somewhere after a cut to a cutesy style, it was weird as hell, and I don't think I had the same feeling when I listened to the song separately.

  • i also thought the editing was really bad and some scenes looked super amateurish

Honestly, this is why I always start with the song, and later the MV. A good MV can make a song better. I don't know why I watched the MV first.

  • blop for me. the bridge was great, but the song did not feel cohesive. I thought Beat Beat should have been the title track. JYP continues the tradition of picking the worst songs off the EP to make the title a la Boom and passionfruit.

overall I liked the music on their last comeback more.

Me too, I was really looking forward to this. The mm-mmm part in the teaser sounded so promising to me :flop: but this was too disjointed.

Dash and Run for Roses remain among my favorite releases this year.

  • this is def their best title track

    bop

also, lily should stick with this hair, she looks miles better than her blond hair. i also love that humming sound before they go to the chorus
