Imagine having many comebacks this year + tons of content for the fans and still able to save up this much

  • well they've learned a big lesson there when company was in financial trouble years back

but it's good that they are doing well now, just hope they will stop debuting those US groups or whatever, and make Nizi Project 3 for next Japanese girl group

and then in 2025 debut new Korean gg

  • Its actually crazy, if I had the money I'd invest because JYP really is a lean mean money making machine compared to the rest. Despite their two biggest groups being in renewal contracts, having far fewer big acts and contracts compared to the rest (just to include YG's distribution work with Hybe) they are able to 20% of consolidated sales into profit.

For context YG is at 0.29%, SM is at 13% and Hybe is at 7.9%.

  • best at managing their finances or best at screwing their artists over?

do JYPE's artists get less of the revenue/profit share because JYPE contracts are bad for the artists as JYPE keeps more of the revenue?

I think in a previous thread on a similar topic it was shown that jyp artists actually get some of the better profit share. I think

  • JYP is not looking good actually. It is not investing a lot into its groups! They are saving a lot of money by not reinvesting into the cbs of their groups! Look at Twice - their biggest act(Now it is Skz), they declined a lot internationally and domestically! JYP can do much better with Twice! Look at Nayeon’s ABCD- fantastic song, styling and good marketing!

They can do better with their other groups too! Their new jp bg- NexZ. They are not doing well! Like let’s compare them to Nct Wish- Sm’s jp bg, who also debuted this year! They have already 1m + sales with 2 single albums! While NexZ has less than 150k with 1 single album!

Itzy- the first 4th gen group that I liked :emotionalpepe:

JYP gave them those horrible songs- Cake and Sneakers and they declined a lot because of that! I actually like cheshire(my top 3 Itzy tt), Untouchable- decent song

Also give my Nmixx girls more songs like Run For Roses!!!

I don’t feel smth new and fresh from JYP anymore except from some of their acts(Nayeon, Misamo). But they are of course not on the level of YG(Blinks be carrying that company)!

So hope they will invest moreee! It is very good on the long run!

  • interesting - got a source mate? since I read/heard it was the opposite

This is a very old source, from what I hear this leaked years ago, but note this is all based on the initial contract. Kind of explains why SM works their groups to the bone during years 1-6 then neglects them for the final 3-4, and doesn't like to send them on tours outside Korea.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/…/#:~:text=Musicians%20don't%20make%20much,most%20cash%20for%20these%20labels.

Edit - if you have chrome, here is the page it likely came from (note you'll have to add the second n and remove the space) https://pan .nate.com/talk/330911705

  • i guess that's what near-bankruptcy does to you, after that you'll become a lot more cautious, knowing the fear of financial abyss.

Aren't they coasting too much on their current, older successful groups though, instead of developing or reinvesting in their groups to uplift them to the next level? Ah well, as long as the artists themselves are still happy and content, and seeing how their older 3rd gen groups have extended their contract, seems like they do.

Wasn't this proven false or at the least unsubstantiated a long time ago, as fake news? Meaning not real leaks, but just some guesswork compilation by some anonymous internet poster.

Haven't heard that one, I remember hearing the OG ones from the big 3 plus a couple big companies (if memory serves starship and one more) at the time was leaked from the JYJ lawsuit, the rest which includes bighit etc, no idea where that came from.

  • Twice is making more money than SM act with their 140M world tour. With Twice cb+ Nayeon+Tzuyu+Misamo twice Will generate 2M sales. And SKZ is doing well with their albums and world tour. Besides charting on melon SM acts are weak internationally so it’s funny when you’re coming for twice when only aespa is doing great there.

  • it’s because they’re cheap as hell

mediocre comebacks for all their groups, the cheapness and countrified concepts really bleed thru. they’re lucky they have twice and stray kids to pay their bills and give them billions worth of profit. wish they’d invest a quarter of what these groups get them into said groups themselves

    He does things too conservatively

While another company owner was much more aggressive

Which is why Edam Entertainment had its first stadium concert before JYP.

Are you blind? I literally wrote about Nmixx, Itzy, Nexz, Twice, Nayeon and Misamo?!

And this thread is about JYP not about SM. Make a thread about SM and I will write about them!

And if we compare companies’ revenue- SM has 10 more bn wons of operating profit compared to JYP :pepe-shrug:

And I literally praised JYP for good management of Misamo and Nayeon(just a secret they are part of Twice too)!

And I didn’t say Skz is not doing good. They are the biggest act of JYP in last 2-3 years!

And Nct is the biggest profit generator in SM btw, not Aespa!

Even their newest jp bg Nct Wish sold already 900k+ copies of 2 single albums in Japan only!!!

And I bet Twice can never do 1.5m tour because of their massive decline!

The only JYP group in an upward trend is SKZ!

In SM it is Aespa, Riize and Shinee

I didn’t include Nct Wish and NexZ since we have to see more cbs from them!

Stop projecting your dumb thoughts about SM stans on me! You are trying really hard in these threads!
