Not Koreabye as your source
he’s such an ass. if he’d let his singers sing the way they’re comfortable with, maybe they wouldn’t be making blunders during their stages and encores. He’s so incompetent.
JYPE is to blame, Lia has such a pretty voice but the incompetent company will never let her sing in her register! (Same with Jihyo)
They are stuck singing high-pitched nursery rhyme cheering nonsense. I feel really sorry for the girls.
Dude wants to be the Gordon Ramsay of kpop
yall always so negative. It's just feedback and sometimes that can be upsetting and things can be contentious. Those kpop fans dont really know much of anything saying how you always have to be soft or whatever. I do agree but sometimes it does get contentious and that's ok too. ITZY arent children, they can handle it. It'll all be fine.
Also gonna ignore the OPs baity title because it's just dumb as hell.
Well I'll be honest ain't many of us already had situation in life when our boss wasn't happy about our work or had different opinion?
Pretty sure most adults already experienced it. I guess teenagers are spreading nonsense on twitter again.
Or some adults do it with their cringe idea of "they are Idols, they are better than some ugly PD"

this is the correct answer. I have had bosses be brutal in their criticism. not overly harsh or abusive of course but brutally honest They wanted a certain thing and I didn't do that. So they told me as much. It does suck of course but you do your job.
The feedback Jyp gave was definitely not good. He can't be a teacher. Yeji sing better that part than Jyp actually. He advises you to sing the song as if you were screaming. It's perfectly normal for girls to cry when his advice is bad. Because they sing very well. If there is something to criticize, of course, he should criticize it. But I don't see it.

The critic was fine. He wanted it sung a certain way it’s not about it being terrible but not matching the vision of the songs he wasn’t overly harsh or anything. It was probably just frustrating for everyone around.
It will be all worthy.
When they chart...
Forget about flopping or whether JYP is being too harsh...
The real takeaway from this is that JYP himself is still the man in charge at JYPE. Every day he steps into the building, HE is the man in charge. Not whatever lackey he appointed to ostensibly take over the CEO position. I keep seeing Kpoppies being so damn naive on TW and YT, claiming that because he gave up his official title, that he is no longer in charge.
The real world dont work like that. Every member on the Board owes their position to him, every CEO, COO, CFO, or Director of whatever owes their livelihood to him. Just like Bang and YG, JYP is the final authority at the company. If he wants someone gone, they gone. If he wants a project fast tracked, it's gonna get fast-tracked. If he vetoes a project or delays it, that's what happens.
I guess that might be surprising for some but it is common knowledge that JYPark is hard to work for when he's producing JYPE Talent.
g.o.d recalled times where he'd be obsesses with a single word and they'd have to do it over and over for hours. TWICE's Chaeyeong had to say a sentence time and time again, I think they gave it to another member, it's the spoken part for Precious Love.
He's also known to call JYPE Artists up after a Performance if they had been bad.
But you have to be that obsessed to run a Kpop Company, it isn't for the weak of mind and JYPark has written most of JYPE's Songs, well up to Got7 when he decided to break away.
JYPE has outgrown JYPark but JYPE Trainers are just as brutal in their comments.

JYP is the producer and he has all the rights and authority to ask the members to sing in certain ways. The same with any other producers. Maybe you should watch more recording session to gauge how tough some producers could be. Even Soyeon (GIDLE) went super harsh with her members when she wears the producer hat

I watched, none of them showed frustration like Jyp. If they are not in good condition because their voice is sick, they say come tomorrow. I say that the feedback he gives is not good, of course I do not say that he should not criticize. But as far as I can see, he criticizes when there is nothing to criticize. He is overly picky. When the subtitle comes out, I'll understand what it means. As far as I understand from the auto translation, I have already spoken. Yeji sang the same style song in the end and it definitely sounded better to me. Good thing Yeji didn't sing the song like Jyp said. Because it definitely doesn't fit the vibe of the song. I'm sure Soyeon is telling them how to do it in detail. And Soyeon is a much more successful producer. Her criticism is justified. Because she knows what the public wants and she knows the trends. Jyp's methods must be outdated because none of their groups can chart in Korea anymore. He puts pressure on the girls, but he is not right, he should look in the mirror first.
Obviously we can't see all the recording behinds, and no doubt there probably was some arguments, but when Soyeon was teaching Shuhua, because she couldn't get the part right, she went in there and gave her an effective tool (hitting her own hands) to assist her in the song.
I don't see JYP providing any constructive approach like that. It's fine to criticize, but it's on the vocal director and producer (in which position he is sitting for this) just as much as it is on the Idol to find the right outcome.
Also some of y'all are working in psychotic places. I work for a major corporation and a relatively high powered environment - and part of people being people managers, people leader's is to effectively manage their staff. That includes employing a variety of techniques and understanding that different people react to different methods, and focusing on productivity.
Sometimes relatively harsh and truthful conversations are sometimes warranted, particularly when people need or have to be performance managed, but they have to be in productive ways and it's about ensuring the best outcome from the employee. Simply losing your cool is not an effective way to be a people manager.
I find his approach pretty poor. He's frustrated, sure, but in his position he lets it show and also doesn't provide a pathway for the idol to assist. If he can't be a vocal director effectively then he should get one in the room.
And honestly I worry about some people's professional environments quite frankly.
I'm surprised by some comments in this thread. Unless you are still studying and have never worked, this situation is very common. He's their boss and producer not their teacher. You don't expect him to babying them, right? His approach is actually very tame and soft compared to most employers. Most of them will just straight up yelling and mad at you. And in this situation, Itzy as a workers must following what he want.
