Why does Danielle get chosen for The Little Mermaid but not other female idols?

I don't know that but what I do know is that Danielle did not cast herself so the hate and harsh words should not be directed her way

- find out if the other idols mentioned even auditioned (you had to go out of your way to audition)

- if they didn't, go be angry somewhere else

- if they did, then go be angry at disney

If it wasn't Danielle, it'd have been some other trendy idol from some other big company. So what's the big deal?

Danielle sounds great as Ariel so a great choice by Disney - you can tell she has been in theatre and similar productions before.

Wouldn't be surprised if Disney had thier eye on her since debut for this reason. And are using this dubbing role to see if they want to continue working with her.

Well, not only are New Jeans extremely popular, they are also under a big company. However, no mean comments should be directed towards danielle. These days K-pop is becoming a lot more of a trend, therefore more opportunities for idols to take up important jobs, especially under a big company like HYBE. All of this aside, i'm actually extremely happy, and proud of danielle! She definitely is not a bad pick for this role, she always has disney princess vibes.

Good for her. But tbh is not that big, she is only doing the voice. I saw famous youtubers who suck in voice acting making some roles, so. Besides, i saw the trailer, that movie looks awfull.

Hybe is known for it ever since bts solo era started, but who else from hybe is working with Disney?

Why not jsut better singers fullstop? Its obviously a backroom deal and she doesnt have the vocals to do this.

I can't with kpop stans making a big fuss over this when it's just dubbing for the Korean version. If you're worried for Korean, they can choose watching the English version if they don't like it. For international audience, it won't reach you anyway

The requirements should have been native sounding Korean with good vocals. The fact that Danielle was chosen and not Yunjin or Hannie doesn't change the fact that it was obviously a company connection situation. Chances are, HYBE was contacted thanks to their influence in the West with BTS and they offered New Jeans as the choice (or HYBE saw the opportunity and pushed for New Jeans to get a role). Why New Jeans and not Leserafim? You could ask the same about why HYBE gets New Jeans big endorsements and not Lesserfim. New Jeans is their golden child. Anyways, in Danielle's case, they probably had several members audition, but for whatever reason, the Voice acting director felt Danielle fit the role the best, so she was selected.

Otherwise, if not HYBE connections, the idols you named like Aespa or Nmixx would have been obvious better choices, but connections and money talks. And not even. When you think about it, it's actually a little ridiculous for any idol at all to be cast rather than an actual professional singer and voice actor.

The fact that a recently debuted rookie idol with little to no experience in the industry and so-so vocal ability was able to get this voice acting role over actual professional singers and voice actors alone speaks to the level of connection that HYBE has.
