Why do people always blame the company?

  • Literally, every time sth goes wrong, either the song doesn't do well, or the outfits aren't good, or a member gets into a scandal, or the teaser isn't good, everybody blames the company.

But when they do well no one thanks the company, truth is behind every CB there are dozens of people who work together on making everything look good.

Now it's a little bit different with rookies since we know they don't have any freedom when they debut. But grown adult idols, who are grown enough to take accountability for their actions are babied.

Cube is a perfect example. Yes, they did mistakes, no one is denying that. But they also did a really good job with Gidle. How many female idols do you know that produce their group's music? None. Male idols sure but with females, there is only Soyeon. Cube put a lot of trust in Soyeon by allowing her to basically be in charge of all the music from debut. No other company does the same, I am 100% sure there are so many female idols who would love a chance to make their own music but no company will allow that. Twice couldn't even write the lyrics till they were already established and even then with b sides (I might be wrong but idk). If I remember correctly Jennie also worked on SOLO but didn't get credit.

But all everybody talks about with Cube are their mistakes. When Jisoo got into the Snowdrop controversy everybody blamed YG for allowing her to be in the drama, when Jisoo is a grown adult woman who chose to be in that drama. But no it's YGs fault.

  • The company is ultimately the one who allows things with their careers to happen and are supposed to be analyzing the optics. Everything that happens with this groups, even after they're tenured senior artists, is approved by the company. YG was blamed because they should have recognized the blowback that everyone knew was going to happen and helped her choose a better drama.

  • Probably because, in most cases, it's objectively true that everything short of "actually performing" is dictated by the company. Their styling, their choreography, the song selection, where they perform, how many performances they get, who produces their music, the marketing, the art selection for the album, the director selected for the MV...

Like LovenRose just said on another thread: I also agree that it's on the company if they pick choreography that their members objectively do not have the skillset to perform or a song that requires a range the idols cannot comfortably sing in.

But I also agree with OP that it works the other way. When something goes well, it's because all those pieces came together right, not just the actual execution bit that we see the idols perform.

    let's be friends

  • cube is trash company, (G)-Idle is hard carrying them

    that's really worst example lol

and Soyeon fought her way to have musical freedom, it seems like kpop fans think everyone who write their music had the greenlight right from the start, all of them fight for it and if they are great enough they get the opportunity

and not everyone can be like Soyeon, music producing is tiring job especially when idols are already so busy

Damn you make me sound smart ^^

Changed the title of the thread from “Who do people always blame the company?” to “Why do people always blame the company?”.

Jisoo is 27 years old, she is grown. Why do they need to baby her? Like she's a child who doesn't know what to do. If YG had forced her to reject the offer fans would be crying about how YG takes away opportunities. Jisoo isn't an idiot, nor has she lived overseas her whole life (ie Jennie and Rose). She is a Korean born and raised in Korea. She knows her country's history. But no it's all big bad YGs fault.

  • music producing is tiring job

It's not about a tiring job, it's about not being able to get these opportunities. Cube has invested so much with Gidle, they've done a great job with them. It really feels like they learned from their mistakes. At first, they pushed Soyeon to get attention, but once that was done they focused on other members, Yuqi had so many schedules in China, that both she and Miyeon got solos as well. Gidle didn't fall from the sky, it was cube who trained them and allowed them the artistic freedom that no other girl group has.

Even in Hollywood, managers and agents reject scripts that could weaken or harm their client's public standing. Just because she thought it was a good idea doesn't mean anything... that's the whole reason celebrities have these teams of people in place to help their careers. As the people responsible for her career and public standing, yes... it is YG's fault that they allowed it to happen even if she wanted to do it because they are supposed to be protecting her career from negative impact.

so u think producing music is not tiring at all?, have u ever read interviews of people who write their music? how u ever read interviews of Soyeon?

  • its just like a when a kdrama is popular actors will receive praise for acting. When a kdrama flops people will blame actors. Because they are face of the kdrama and idols are face of their songs. Actually it seems kdrama and idol industry are the same type of thing.
