Why did Hybe pick Chaewon and not Eunbi?

because hybe are haters. chaewon over eunbi. so terrible. send them to prison.

The most obvious reason is age. Eunbi is literally 28 this year. She's older than everyone in 4th gen and older than 90 percent of 3rd gen idols, she's only five days younger than Nayeon .

But i think maybe an even bigger reason is Japanese popularity. BangPD targeted the three members most popular in Japan (Chae, Sakura and Minju) with Starshit already having Wonyoung and Yujin. LSRFM's first and primary target market is Japan, what they do in Korea and the US is gravy to BangPD i think.

Also Woolim probably promised Eunbi a solo career, which she wanted. She's already been in two girl groups, she's done being in a group especially since she was the most talented by far but never got the recognition.

Chaewon they probably didn't want her to pursue a solo career. It was either get added to Rocket Punch, wait for the next girl group to debut (which could be a long time), or have a mediocre solo career Like Yuri or Chaeyeon. It's clear her future was going nowehere with Woolim so when HYBE was recruiting as many Iz*one members as possible, she probably paid those termination fees happily to join them because that was the only way she'd have a future in the industry.

I'd say even Sakura is too old, but she has the popularity to compensate for her age.

Top 3 in Izone in Japan are Sakura, Minju and Chaewon. Note that Hybe tried to get Minju too but failed.

Its been all about Japan since even before they started.

I mean let's be real: If you were a huge company trying to scout members for a successful GG, would you pick Eunbi? Or Chaewon..........the girl that's both younger and has a stronger fan base?

HYBE could have both or maybe add Eunbi now to replace Kim.

Or or or we recognize that Hybe is a corporation and not a music label? And why does no one think Eunbi wanted to go solo? That is a possibility too and not one music label under the Hybe umbrella would manage a solo female act as well as her current label can.

I actually think Source Music was smart for choosing Chaewon. Girlie is killing it with every concept and have a 180 degree successful image change. Eunbi with LSRF's concept is predictable but Chaewon is the wild card.
