Do you ever look at album sales and wonder who is buying that?
-

I want so many of them, I would buy them if I had space
-

I think like that too, especially when I see people bulk buy like 10 albums or even 20 just to get a certain photocard. There really is no need to have so many albums unless you're doing a group order, the thing is, kpop fans love albums so it's not too much of a shocker, but I wonder where people get the money... 20+ albums...that's so expensive!

They r rich af 💀

I expected it to plateau but it is not stopping

people literally buy anything
we are all trying to fill those existential holes inside of us

I stopped buying in 2019. And idk it’s ok to have a few albums or even one of each album to support but I don’t think I’ll ever understand people who “buy more to support their favs” and it’s all in a box somewhere or abandoned. The first one is just about your satisfaction the second imo is a creepy para social relationship.
Besties first support yourselves esp in this economy 😭

People have been screaming that Kpop is peaking/declining/stagnating ever since i joined this forum back in 19. It has done nothing but blow up since then. It is the 6th or 7th largest music genre in the world, which to me is incredible for literal boyband music sung in Korean.

I feel like I don't have enough room. I need a garage LOL. Okay it's not that bad
P.S. Photocards are addicting.....once you get one you want more and before you know it....you have a ton of binders....

You definitely need room only for your albums. Museum!!!!

While I was in Korea hanging around the Dreamcatcher pop up cafe for a few days, I met a European dude (not the insensitive German from another thread) who had bought.
The guy was worried because he had bought like 90 copies of the recent Dreamcatcher album and was leaving in a few days and had no way to get all of them back home. He only bought that many for the photocards and fanmeet entries and was seriously considering dumping them in Korea.
Sometimes I think I splash my cash too much because I like to buy one of each version of my faves albums.

yes..
especially in bulk buying
not all are real fans
more likely businessman
I think some of that are just reseller? -

People bulk buy for a multitude of reasons
the biggest is fan signs and video calls.
There's even people i follow who do bulk orders for a group of people just so they can win the video call.
I personally bulk buy but only for up10tion because I wanted to collect everything without waiting for people to sell them online. I also gave away majority of my albums and i resold my doubles.
There is a market for photocards and other internal goods you get. You can spend $20 on an album and get a photocard worth $100 plus...talk about profit.
Not everyone who bulk buys has bad intentions.

I guess the issue is, like in the guy I mentioned, what is done psychically with the albums from people that have mass bought for fansign/photocards?
The fansign one, they can sell the album to other fans (hence Group orders), which is ok.
But if you are also gutting the photocards, the value of the album drops a lot.

for a while fans used to donate/dump those albums to orphanages.
One person put them on blast bc they needed donations to buy clothes and books for the kids not freaking idol CDs

Like i said, not everyone has bad intentions. I gave away my albums with free cd's and their choice of a unit photocard and the poster that came as up10tion's had unit photocards and mini posters.
So they didn't just get nothing and fans who can't afford an album don't mind getting nothing if they are still getting the photobook and cd. The photobooks are worth collecting as well.
I spent a lot of money on Up10tion's album both because i wanted to collect EVERYTHING for myself and because I tried for various pre-order benefits and video calls. I had 22 extra albums. I gave a lot away and gave some to friends and even people who weren't fans of the group and became fans of up10tion because they liked it.
Some donate, some give them away, some may even misuse and just toss them. People act like they aren't worth keeping/collecting if there's no Photocards but the photobooks are quite nice.
