how invested are you in award shows? do you watch the whole thing? i kinda don't care about em outside of the nice red carpet pictures of idols i like. i don't even care who wins or loses. too many award categories to keep up with anyway

Same here, if my favs win I congratulate them and celebrate and that's it.

I used to care when I first got into Kpop and for a few years after. But over the years ive not cared at all, things like continuous manipulation, weird winners, unnecessary set ups (multiple days, different countries) and over the last few years there's like 20 award shows makes them have little interest.

I never watch them because they start at like 3am in my timezone. But I do keep up with digitals and sales throughout the year, as it's pure fun for me. So it's easy to predict who will win (besides SMA now).

There are always snubs every year which is hella annoying because what happened to sticking to award show criteria? You're not an american show where the disclaimer says they can pick the winner regardless of data, the criteria is always clear for Korean shows.

I watched MMA/MAMA fully live, those are amazing. The rest not so great. .everyone blows their budget on MMA/MAMA so the performances are pretty amazing.

The B-tier award shows I've mostly just checked performances of the groups I'm interested in. Aside from MAMA/MMA the end year gayos are wayyy better than award shows.

I only wait for results on the shows just to see if someone I like won

I watched the live stream of MAMA 2 years in a row but they failed in 2022 by doing it during the week and than splitet it to 2 days so it wasn't worth watching for me since I had to be at work. And actually in the past 2 years I only fully watched MAMA just to tell people in a JPop-server on Discord who from Japan won and to remind them early enough to join in when a Japanese artist performed xD but well they screwed it in 2022 by removing almost all cathegories for foreign artists and the only foreigner cathegory they kept went to JO1 3rd year in a row wich literally looks to non-fans like if Mnet was awarding themself since JO1 and Mnet are both under the same shareholder, wich is CJ,E&M (since they made Mnet and own most of JO1's company Lapone Entertainment)

They mean nothing, occasionally you'll get an honest deserving one but for the most part it's not based on anything other than who they can get, who will give them money, whose good at sucking up to them.

Never really watch it, maybe some clips on YouTube. That's it.
