You'll hear lots of kpop in Myeongdong, especially coming from the beauty product stores. I think they purposely play very popular/famous kpop cause it draws in foreign tourists.

Another fun game is to find as many kpop stars are you can in ads.

Myeongdong ain't what it used to be. Half the storefronts are shuttered and the foot traffic is pedestrian even at peak hours. You're better off going to Hongdae.

I was in Seoul about a month ago too and by far the two songs I heard the most were After Like and Hype Boy.

A lot of BTS too.

I didn't hate Myeongdong, it was lively enough at night and a damn sight better than Brisbane . My two hotels were there and it was nicely located to get around Seoul easily. Lots of food options too.

But yeah Hongdae was much cooler in general.
