I think I have to say something here so.... hi.
What would kpop be like if Produce series didn't exist?

-
Everything will be the same, like seriously what did the produce serie groups bring, they didn't impose anything new, weather with their music or styling or anything else.
-
-
-
The same mostly only some were able to keep the momentum going. They would have more impact if they were able to stay together imo
-
Kpop would definitely be less saturated with groups.
-
-
Some reduction in flop groups and low mid tiers when the produce groups eventually disband.
-
I would say much fewer trainees/idols will get a chance to get the spotlight
whatever we say... the truth is that those survival shows are the best way to introduce trainees which usually are kept somewhere in the dark basement.
You will see what will happen when Girls Planet 999 will start releasing first content, the whole world will go crazy about it.
New survival will start airing about 3 years after Produce (IZ*ONE), so it's bout damn time, well and we've seen how popular I-LAND was... if here we will have much more trainees, and it seems like there will be near 100 girls expect people to go absolutely bananas.
-
the produce series created such an influx of new groups that ended up not doing well saturating the market and also ruined some trainee's reputation with the rigging and evil editing so
kpop would still have been the same imo

hard to say with butterfly effect and all
where would somi end up?
would popular idols such as chaeyeon of ioi still be popular?
what would happen to the lesser talented idols like hyewon and minju? would they be actresses or models?
what would happen to all the fans of such groups - would they be added to others or would they not exist at all
-
I strongly disagree with people here saying nothing has changed
Do you all follow kpop at all?
How many sucessful groups debuted thanks to survival shows and projects alike?
Treasure, Enhyphen, NiziU all debuted from survival shows. Upcoming YG and BH girlgroups will also debut as well as atwo newJYP boygroups
Not to say groups like Ab6ix, Cravity, The Boyz and G Idle that essentially mostly their initial stats in the back of produce trainees
I even see Queendom and Kingdom as an indirect subproduct of survival shows
To say kpop was going to be the same without Produce is a big reach
-
People saying nothing would've changed are not looking at the whole picture. Produce gave trainees under shit companies a chance at the spotlight and gave underperforming groups another chance to showcase themselves.
Under Jellyfish or Fantagio's management, Sejeong/Mina/Yoojung/Doyeon never would've made a name for themselves and people wouldn't even have looked at or even heard of Gugudan or Weki Meki.
Groups like Nuest or idols like Jung Chaeyeon, Kim Wooseok, Han Seungwoo got another shot because of Produce.
So many other big stars also came out of Produce which gave them a headstart - Chungha, Kang Daniel, Park Ji Hoon, Ong Seungwoo, Jeon Soyeon and G-idle, etc
-
The same

Thats basically every group, ever. Nothing brings anything to anything. But at least it gives idol from nugu companies a limelight, and thats exactly the purpose. So that they have a chance to do great in the future.
