I do agree their stock was a bit overvalued late last year but with successful solo debuts next year and more certainty over their acts they can recover slowly.

but if company will buy/acquire/invest into not worthy things/products/AI it might backfire in the future
also if they want to "dodge" taxes
they should rather build a HYBE Theater or maybe even HYBE Arena, host there concerts, performances, loan it for shows
make part of it a "museum" that kids from schools from whole Korea, maybe even foreign schools can visit too

one is a financial service startup so the business is doing ok they will be fine in the long term
the other is a food delivery based startup which is still not profitable, so its going to be difficult for this one in the long term

If people do not understand the basic concept of market capitalization, stocks trading above and below price per share and financial statements, you should just stick to kpop than writing about financial situations of companies.

If they worry that much about their faves “earning” they should worry about things such as revenue growth, net income, cash flow statement etc.

It's not about idols' earnings but the ability of their label to fund their promotions.
Labels need money to train idols, produce music, dress them, house them, transport them, shoot their MVs etc

I think that is what people are getting at - I know 10 billion seems concerning at face value (and why AKP seized on it), but there's a bigger picture to be had. The easiest thing to say is that it's a market correction and not a totally unexpected one given the sheer amount hybe around Hybe's IPO.
Either way, to take this and then say it shows that Hybe is gonna tank tomorrow displays a fundamental misunderstanding of the market. New media feeds or being sensastionalist/alarmist for views and this thread is a product of that.

It's not the company that took a financial hit, but the people who bought their share at the initial value.
There was another article on similar topic. Financial advisors prey on seniors to invest their entire retirement on hot markets like entertainment and tech companies. That's likely what happened here.

Recession is natural economic cycle especially after big event like covid19 where tons of money was printed. Central banks are raising interest rates now to fight inflation all over the world. Money is currently way more expensive than it was years ago. Pretty much every asset class have crashed. Even gold have less value than before. The best investment currently is US dollar in the short term.

Unless idols make less than what was spent on them at debut, they get paid immediately.
JYP said that it costs half a million to debut a girl group and I think that all big 3 groups can make at least half a million at debut.
First, the company doesn't "lose" money when their stock goes down. Hybe is probably still making a good profit. It just impacts their ability to raise money.

Second, they were overvalued at IPO and were absurdly overvalued at their peak, even in the best-case scenarios.
Current price is more reasonable.
