A rookie group with a unreal amount of success that is not the standard is blocking the best girl group debut on Korean charts this year.

You can have Korea though while they hit 1 on global spotify,itunes UK/US which only they can do.

HYLT had around 80M in 24hrs before the yt confirmation so, it is most likely that Pink Venom will get ard 90M+ final

And in terms of melon, the song was released a day ago, too early to tell how bp will gonna end up in the charts

I mean the fact that Newjeans is still holding on to #1 on Melon (500k+ ULs and growing even) just shows that they are incredibly popular right now, it doesn't mean that BP is doing badly at all. Literally only BB and G-idle could top that momentarily this year iirc.

ok it's the weekend streams are usually lower but I'm not surprised new jeans songs are very liked by the gp + they are't the typical rookie girl group and have different type of promotions in other words they hype is real. I'm actually glad that PV is #2 considering that it might not be a song for everyone.

we are witnessing the new generational change. If YG had given Blackpink more genres of music, surely the general Korean public would be more excited about this comeback. Let's remember that all popular groups are always surpassed by new groups. Although can someone tell me why NewJeans is so special?

They remind the public of 1st gen (the gen Allkpop keeps forgetting existed). Go back and watch 1st gen girl groups, and listen to their music. Similar vibe with different hair. They even got a shout out from an S.E.S member for it. The only two groups to get a shout out from 1st gen that I know of are Seo Taiji with BTS and a member of S.E.S with New Jeans. While in both cases new gen fans ask what's the big deal? Answer: Listen to first gen.

It's the weekend, they'll get #1 on Monday. Koreans don't stream on the weekend, I thought everyone knew this.

They broke the YT record in 2022.

Stay on top 2 (basically only melon, in other platform they are still unrivaled. Let's see next week, it is highly possible they will rise in melon) in every chart after 6 years is not a sign of declining. Not a lot of group can stay relevant the way BP did. Their popularity remains high (still the highest IMO) even after a lot of younger and fresh GG debut is insane. If they can still maintain this kind of relevancy after 10 years, they are legendary.

Blackpink is doing fine. Their numbers are great. Takes longer than a day to see who good for the year.
