Should companies not have expelled members who got into a scandal?

well it worked well for Gidle and we will see for Lesserafim but would likely work pretty well for them too

I think Monsta X is doing better than pre Wonho, no? they are selling for sure more albums, their last album is their biggest selling

Overall probably depends of the members and the groups

B.I was such a core member for IKON, its was honestly a shame. I think if he had stayed, IKON might have gotten more popular songs

B.I.'s expelling was honestly such BS imo and hurt the group. Le Sserafim will be fine though I believe as all the other members are extremely strong talent and fanbase wise.

With BI and Wonho, it looked like these members genuinely regretted their actions. So they look more like victims who received a harsher punishment than they actually deserved. But can the same be said for the idols who were involved in serious scandals, like the Burning Sun Scandal? They deserved to be fired and companies are doing the right thing here.

As a Monbebe I think MX is doing just as well ot6 possibly even better since some people checked the group out just because they heard and felt bad about Wonho's departure

As for Ikon Hanbin's scandal definitely killed their momentum, especially with him having been the main songwriter. Current Ikon tracks are still good, but it takes far longer for them to release anything which is not great in this competitive scene

Depends on a case-by-case basis in my opinion. Like Red Velvet survived because they had long established themselves before the Irene issue (and because SM gave a major payola to keep the recording from seeing the light of day). Younger GGs like GIdle and Le Sserafim wouldn't survive in Korea with a member's scandal holding them down and preventing the public from warming up to them. BGs right now don't chart so the Korean public doesn't matter as much to them. They can thrive even with a member's scandal since the International fan base can carry them and Internationals are generally more forgiving for past scandals.

iKon was shaky already before BI left. In or out, it wouldn't have made much a difference

Winho should have stayed imo. Had Cube handled the scandal better, Soojin should have been able too as well, same with Garam and lessera

Ikon isn’t doing better without BI that’s for sure.

i think it depends. sometimes it seems like it helped the group, sometimes it seems like it made it worse for the group

He admitted to everything. He said he bought Marijuana and LSD but said he only actually smoked weed (which isnt a big deal) but was too afraid to take the LSD.

He was never questioned about it originally because Han Seohee changed her statement.

She came back 3 years later and gave up B.I in hopes of a plea deal because she's had several arrests since.

She also came back and said Yang Hyunsuk made her reverse her statement, which is being adjudicated now. It's looking more and more like YG is going to win as she was caught in several lies by his lawyers on cross examination, she's had outbursts in court where the judge had to reprimand her, and during the last court date it was revealed she was blackmailing YG and asking for money when she said she never did.

She's also failed a drug test while in probation. She's about to be sentenced for several years in prison.

It also came out she said she never actually wrote the statement that YG intimidated her to change her statement...and her supposed statement from 3 years ago where she accused YG of intimidation was read back to her in court recently and she said she never made that statement.

Also her original statement said she was afraid and intimidated by YG 3 years ago, but she said in court last month that she was never intimidated by or afraid of YG...his lawyers basically fed into her ego and she had an outburst in court contradicting the entire premise of her intimidation charge against YG from 3 years earlier.

In conclusion, she's lied about a lot.
