I mean, some of it's cringey, and sometimes the styling doesn't hold up as tastes change (but I'm willing to bet that as style trends cycle back around in the next decade or so, some of it will come back into style as "retro"), but that's just as true of current groups who sometimes make very odd choices.
Some genuinely good music got made by second-gen groups, though. I was listening to SNSD yesterday, and even their older catalogue holds up surprisingly well.

There were also more mainstream groups. Just compare the amount of top gg's, in 3rd we have blackpink, twice, Red velvet and mamamoo, and then a lot of much smaller groups. With 2nd there was snsd, 2ne1, Sistar, Kara, T-ara, f(x), after school, Wonder Girls, Miss A, 4minute all somewhat bigger.

There might have been a few cringy songs, yes. But there were also the ones that were supposed to be cringy. That were cmpletely over the top and making fun out of themselves. And I really miss that. I miss these fun and over the top "Anime" or "Comic" concepts (Like Crayon Pop anyone? PSY?). They are still my favorite thing in K-Pop, because they made it so unique
