I think the most shocking was Gfriend. I can't think of any others that felt as out of left field as them. I know there are others who feel like they disbanded before they were declining, but I think it's the fact that the Gfriend members themselves seemed blind-sided by it too.
As for the most sad, maybe Pristin? They had such promise to be the only group that truly managed to leverage Produce fame into something tangible, strong fanbase, songs that were relatively well received, and then just squandered for nothing.

Shocking? G-Friend.
Saddest? Madtown.

Well, I was shocked when Voisper disbanded.
I remember them saying "We're having a comeback soon" and I was excited by it, but then later they disbanded and the comeback was their "disbandment song"...

Everyone and their mother knew the group was going to be extended. Then Starshit and Msnake had their beef and it was all over.
According to Nako the girls were so shell shocked by the sudden announcement that they were crying the whole time during rehearsals for their farewell concert. We're talking several days straight leading up to and including their two day concert.

BTS Call it what you want, but for me getting together for cf obligations, run BTS and sponsors is not a hiatus. They'll keep on doing these things because it's in their contracts; I doubt they'll ever release OT7 music again. They're in this limbo now until their contract expires and it's over IMO. When the truth reaches the surface armys in denial will get the wake up call.

G-friend i was really looking forward to their new sound and i was waiting for a comeback only for them to announce a disbandment
2ne1 Comeback home was a smash hit and they broke a lot of personal records and we we're all waiting for a comeback because the girls have been hinting at it only to announce that group won carry their activities
Sistar they still where at their highest peak when they disbanded

CLC: I'll fully admit I wasn't a stan and didn't follow them closely but I still enjoyed their music and things were seemingly looking up when they release N.O. "Me" and "Devil" were both great songs and with Helicopter I felt they finally found their footing in terms of music. But it was just too late.
