In all seriousness, the average American has no clue who's on the Hot 100 chart in any given week and quite a few big acts don't chart in the top 10 on Hot 100 even though they're selling out stadiums and selling tons of albums. it's heavily biased by radio play.

Do honestly think we've seen Kpop's peak globally. People had a lot of time at home during quarantine to ingest a ton of online content, as well as stream YT and Spotify. We probably won't be seeing monster, record breaking numbers for a while.

Anyway, the top 10 is a true indicator of what’s popular over in the US and what’s going viral. You got Strangers things hype, viral Tiktok songs, Future & Drake, and Harry.

Ami are trying to justify the flop by lack of payola radio play... except BTS had a lot more airplay and sales than Joji's ballad and Bad Bunny's track at #8. While BTS only half their number of streams lmao US troops legit dropped the ball on this one.

There there OP. There’s more to BTS than number 1 in BBHot100. Now you can focus on their music, not just their success

Kpop will always be a niche genre, always has been, always will be. BTS did nothing to change that. And how could they? It's boyband music sung in Korean. Even the biggest boybands in the US are long gone, that genre is dead here, and very few of them got any respect back in the day anyways.

And that's ok. It's all ok. Whether BTS stays or goes, Kpop will survive just fine as a niche genre in the US, same as metal, jazz, classical, gospel, etc. Your faves are gonna still sellout theatres, arenas and even an occasional stadium here, your faves are still gonna get their BB200 successes and even the occasional Hot 100 entry, your faves will still go viral here and there, just like Money, Squid Game and Parasite did. Kpop will still make what it needs to make in the US while continuing to focus on China, Korea, Japan, and SEA as its core.

To be honest when they started to rule those charts it was a bit annoying because fans only cared about numbers and records.

YTC didn't make it to top 10 and it's still a better song than the English trilogy.
