MissBehave-inspired thread: What was the best year of K-pop?

  • In your opinion, what was the best year of K-pop? Why? Not just specifically with your favorites or one or two groups, but for the genre as a whole.

    I think 2018. :yesr:

    Reasons:

    • BLACKPINK had the perfect balance with everything. They got their global breakout hit with "DDU-DU DDU-DU." I feel like people always forget how big that song was when it came out.
    • BTS. Self-explanatory.
    • Most top groups had an amazing bop of some sort this year.
    • Soloists like Chungha and Sunmi were BOOMING.
    • (G)I-DLE debuted. "LATATA" was instantly a hit.
    • K-pop as a whole had the perfect harmony and balance between East and West.
    • LOONA debuted as a group.
    • iKON had arguably their biggest hit.

I might be missing some, but those are the top ones I can think of. They're all great.

  • 2012 for me. It marked the 2.5 gen start.

AoA, ExiD, Exo, Fiestar, Ailee, Lee Hi as debuts.

Shinee - Sherlock, TTS - Twinkle, f(x) - Electric shock, Sistar - Loving U and so many more.

    And! Of course:

    PSY - Gangnam style
