Is Sakura vs Wonyoung just between fans or is there some beef between those two idols too

There's 2 awkward gifs I can think of that people use to push this narrative, but when you realize WY was only 14 and Sakura was 20 you realize how ridiculous it is.

But these two were set for rivalry since Wonyoung became center in Pd48 and Sakura stans went mad hating the girl. It surely made things awkward for them to get closer, obviously at some point they became aware of it.

lol no expert opinions here, i only started watching Izone content last year a couple months before their disbandment.

But based on my limited research:

1. They are on the bottom half of my bias list for Izone. Top tier is Yuri, Yena, Eunbi and Minju. Middle tier is Chaewon and Hyewon. Bottom tier are the rest including S and W. That doesnt mean i dont like them or support them, i want them both to succeed. It just means i can be more objective since i dont really have a true dog in the race. When either gets unfairly attacked, you can best believe i will defend them like a rabid dog .

2. They are both the members i felt were most ready to leave Izone, the only two i would say actually preferred to move on. Which makes sense since they had the brightest prospects for making it big outside of Izone with solo endorsement deals. They are also the two i feel are least likely to remain in communication via the Izone group chat.

3. I do wonder if there is some weird tension going on between them, but i wonder if the cause of the tension is more a Kakao/Starshit vs Hybe kinda thing rather than something personal. Wonyoung was noticeably warmer with Yuri, Yena and Eunbi, even going so far as to publicly sidehug the latter two and do a selfie with Yena, but she only mustered an awkward wave at Ssamkura. Starshit has been a fucking bitch when it comes to Izone, and i sometimes have to remind myself that Wonyoungie and Yujinie have no control over what Starshit demands of them. Starshit probably sees Lesserifrm as a direct threat, unlike the Izone soloists.

I think it is mostly between the fans. They were both extremely popular in pd48 (Sakura internationally and WY in Korea) and fans still argue over who is the true #1. There was a gif circulating around when they debuted but I don't think it was a big deal and WY was like 13/14 at the time. They were definitely not the closest in the group but there was never any animosity, at least from what I could tell. I think this topic is popping up again because they didn't hug and did an awkward wave when Wonyoung interviewed Le Sserafim. That was probably because they are in new groups now and I think there will be more interactions once both groups have solidified their place.

Izone was 12 member groups and while everyone got along, there were obviously people closer to some than other members. This changed a bit like when they changed room mates and I don't think everyone got a chance to become super close to all other members because they only had a 2.5 year contract. Sakura and Chaewon, for example were not super close (they were closer to other members) and were kind of an odd-pair to re-debut together. Now, after watching a couple of LSFM videos, they seem to have grown really close and the whole group has a nice dynamic.

As for the question, I don't think there is any beef between them at all, and while they might not have been close as some other members, they got on just fine.

If there was ever any tension between them, it was probably just because of fans pitting them against each other. I think Somi once described something like that with her and Sejung. But from what I could tell, Wonyoung and Sakura often have nothing but kind things to say about each other.
