2021/2022 aespa, gidle, ive and stayc = 2016/2017 twice,rv,blackpink and gfriend (success wise?)

but seems like the competition isnt that intense for 4th gen gg ?
twice hit it big with cheer up & tt but theres gfriend with rough & navillera, theres ioi with pick me & vvv and theres bp with their hit debut
the only one that doing really well last year was aespa and the other are far behind them (asap & eleven)

i disagree the competition seems much Harder in 4th gen then it was in 3rd gen
you have IVE and Aespa who pratically secure their #1 and #2 spot
then you have G-idle who proved that they can be a wild card who can do numbers in chart whenever they want
You also have StayC who are showing growth in fandom and stability on the chart
and you have lesserafim and YGNGG coming
it's a lot already imo

I agree idk why y'all are overreacting when he never claimed aespa were as big as TWICE, we're only talking about the position they hold in each respective gen.
IVE rn seem like the closest group to end up being the "next BLACKPINK". Luxury solo brands, very quick rise to international fame, massive debut & follow-up, etc. Not to mention, just like BP, they debuted with a completely different concept\sound than what was the trend at the time & managed to make it work. I don't think they'll reach BP's actual level globally but hey idk
aespa I can see ending up having a TWICE-like career trajectory, biggest peak in 3rd\4th gen, kind of "local' to Asia until the latter part of their career, massive physical sales, consistent digitals, etc.
I only disagree with STAYC I think people are only comparing them with Gfriend because they're from small companies & do cute. STAYC are def looking to be more consistent hitmakers than GFRIEND who kinda fell off after Fingertip
And for GIDLE I think it's way too early to tell
I do think we should wait for YGNGG & lesserafim debuts though

It’ll be very interesting to watch.
But I think it’ll be hard to determine the top3 GGs for now. It’s clear that Aespa is #1, but I’d wait for Le Sserafim‘s debut and ITZY‘s comeback to determine it.
Edit: I‘m kinda dumb, sorry. Regarding OP‘s question, I do think we can compare it, even in the way Aespa is unrivaled rn to how Twice was unrivaled back then (much more tho).
The competition is much more intense now, though with all the new debuts. It’ll definitely be interesting to witness

Not really no one is as big internationally as BP + domestically
As for twice domination in Korea, Aespa need a few more national hits for that. Those back to back hits from twice was a big deal. Savage was a hit but it wasn’t a national hit like next level.
It’s not impossible but aespa need more hits before we can say they’re at twice’s level. they don’t have Japan but they have China where they’re bigger than twice so it’s Korea that’ll make the difference.
-
The only similarity between Twice and Aespa is that they got a national hit during their 1st cb while their debuts was their flop, which both ended having a great longevity even if LOA is bigger than BM and was the top 10 biggest hits in 2017. BM is mid.
Savage isn’t a flop but it’s definitely not a mega hit, while Cheer Up is twice’s signature song. TT, LOA...were super mega hits. The gap is clearly big.

As for IVE being the next blackpink. I really don’t see it. Their individual members have far too little brand rankings (minus wonyoung), plus part of Blackpink’s appeal is their solo brand reputation, which aespa does have. So far, there’s only two popular members on IVE. I don’t think aespa would have the same trajectory as twice.
However, i see IVE as a group that will consistently make international hits as well. I just don’t see their individual brand rep being as big as BP.

It’s not like Winter and Karina are the main are aespa main attractors (Ningning is doing numbers but the gap still big. )
I don’t expect 4 rookies members to have the same popularity against two members which have been in the industry for years.
Wonyoung is the it girl of the group, and Yujin is quite popular she’s Versace global ambassador so yes the brand deal are here. Rei and Liz have a brand deal. And all the members (minus WY) will be on WKorea and Dazed this month.
Give them some time at least. BP didn’t suddenly bag big brands in 4 months.

Why are the twins getting paid dust while the rapper, the blonde, and Wonyoung and Yujin are scoring these big deals?
