I think that's more because of a long period of inactivity, like often happens when groups are between comebacks and nothing much else is happening: K-pop fans will talk less and less about a group, the longer the low activity period lasts.

They've always been. Those who use to disagree either: consider they're not 4th gen; or think they're not good enough because they have not charted Top 10 for 5 years straight or something like that, all other achievements be damned.

Soyeon's JELLY is barely considered a debut song. It was more a pre-debut aimed at keeping Soyeon's name around after P101 and UPR3 and building anticipation for Gidle's debut. Her second MV 'Idle song' is even more of a teaser for her soon-to-debut group.

So I'm not sure it's enough to consider her as 3rd gen idol. And even if you do, what about the other members?
