Twice’s recent albums are all acclaimed. Why?

Eyes Wide Open definitely had a few solid B sides. I didnt like any on TOL but FOL has some of the best Twice B sides ever.

It's two things:

A} These releases simply got more reviews than earlier releases. At least in the west. Whether that is because deliberate promotion of Republic or because of the rising visibility of kpop in general, idk.

B) these three releases in particular have adopted a more western and imo generic sound. So in a pop sphere where familiarity is synonymous with quality, of course they would be better received, not just by online critics but also by pop listeners.

My theory is with the time their budget increase and with this they could hire better producers.

TWICE serving bop albums with all bops since FANCY, periodt.

I've been stanning twice since debut and while their albums have always been good, I do think some of their really early albums had quite a bit of filler in them.

I think ever since their first full album, they started developing very cohesive and solid bodies of work with clear evolution from era to era as more members started getting involved in their music.

idk, i think their earlier bsides and albums are better than their recent (the story begins, signal, twicecoaster. love line, candy boy, going crazy, only you, hold me tight, pit-a-pat, shot thru the heart, lalala.)
