Do more versions help in increasing album sales?

Obviously.

pbly some, but there would be a point if diminishing returns

This is hard to say because net kpop sales has gone up consistency over the years.
There are many examples of lesser number of versions having sold more than many versions. But it’s hard to say if versions had anything to do with it or it was just because kpop grew year over year

Yes and anyone telling you otherwise are lying to themselves. Let's say x group only has 300K dedicated fans buying albums. If they have only 1 version, 300K albums guaranteed. If 2 versions, 600K guaranteed. If they have 4 versions, 1.2M guaranteed. If they have 5 versions, 1.5M guaranteed etc.
I'll use BTS in this case since this applies to them. When 7 came out it had 4 versions and at a regular price. To date, it sold 4.7M albums before Dynamite era. Then we got BE which has 2 versions, not regular priced and spaced out in different years that sold 3.6M albums after Dynamite era. The decrease in sales based on version and album pricing is very apparent even after the explosive amount of fans Dynamite gave to BTS.

depends on the number of photocards? :D

dedicated fans will for sure buy two versions
but only hardcore fans with money will buy four versions right away
some might buy two one month, two next month or something
but it don't work this way that you just double everything...

Yes. Versions help esp when you have a dedicated fanbase. If there are individual versions, it will definitely help cos of solo fanbase competitions. However it also depends on other factors like price and fanmeetings. Some companies use fan meetings to boost album sales by having so many of them and fans will buy a lot of albums to get into them.

this is exactly what i was gna say, versions matter until probably only up to 3 version but there are a lot of pc collectors

It's business If putting out 10 versions ain't profitable, why would a company do that? Unless the company's a charitable institution.

What does that have to do with anything I said? Of course companies will put out 100 versions if they're sure the fandom will buy them all
-
obviously or companies wouldn't waste the extra cost... yes the bulk buyer fans will buy a million copies no matter if there's one version or 12, but for "regular" fans they might be tempted to buy 2,3,4 copies of an album if they like the other versions, or there are member versions and they want to collect their bias.
-
-
not to the extent some fans seem to think they do. the "akgae fights" argument is a moot point because all the versions will be count as one and there is no way to find out which member's version sold more.
i believe fans who want to bulk buy albums (either because of photocards,, fansigns or for records) will bulk buy regardless of how many versions there are to buy.

I'm agreeing and adding my thoughts 👍

Yes and while I also agree with the diminishing returns answer, there are variables you have to take into account specific to each group that icyruios very beautiful handwritten chart does not take into account
Step 1) Are there incentives to buying more? What are they?
a. Photocards
b. Fan meetings
c. Achievements
d. Other incentives (free gifts with purchase etc)
Step 2) The number of hardcore fans, their nationalities, age, income bracket - all of these come into play.
