Anyone else prefer the "less busy" choreographies of 2nd gen?

  • I much prefer the less busy and laid back dance choreography of 2nd gen live stages to todays. Back in the day it was all about song quality and vocals. These dance routines allowed for way more live singing cause the performers weren't constantly out of breath.

Now days the choreographies are so hectic and non stop with 5000 moves that it makes live singing almost impossible. This is done for two reasons. To distract the viewer from how bad the song actually is and to keep their idols from having to sing live cause most idols can't sing.

Perfect example. Wonder Girls are actually performing a song instead of training for the Olympics like todays groups do.

Honey, that is a cover of Orange Caramel, who are a 2nd gen group. 🥺

  • Depends on the concept and/or genre of the song. One of my bias groups recently had a comeback where the choreo was unnecessarily difficult. And I'm going to be honest: It was probably to prevent them from having to sing live. Their most popular member's forte is dance.

  • what I miss the most is all the performance is unique coz they sing live .

Now I don't see the point of so much music show (5/6) when the only difference is the outfit and background. I used to download some of the performance into mp3 coz some of them are unique.

I still have my old yt playlist

  • Yup.

Choreos were easier to follow (hence getting people addicted to the song with time) and there was more melody.

Although I have to say, as a BTS stan I do enjoy out of this world performances. You just can't deny it.

Their MMA 2019 performance lives in my brain rent free.

  • Nah 4th gen idols are amazing dancers in general so it's only fair that they get to showcase that. Lazy choreos are boring as hell imo.

In the 4th gen especially ggs they look superhuman cuz they are so insync while dancing and that's why I'm watching them. Their choreos set them apart from pop acts who do the bare minimum on stage these days.

If there's no grand set or styling and there's only a thread bare minimum choreo there's really nothing to watch. If the whole choreo is so simple that anyone can do it I personally won't feel like watching.

So what about ballads? It sounds like you're saying they should never perform them live cause there's no dancing at all.

Just dramatically wave their limbs around stage or sumn...I usually only listen to ballads if they are osts cuz there are usually accompanied with a fan made mv or clips from a drama. I need sumn for visuals unless the song is like excellent and the vocals and instrumentals have my attention which is very rare.
