Should be noted that when you talk about this topic, it is still very subjective and difference between tiers shouldn't be considered as hard. Also when trying that many artists, sample size are often very small so the placements are very vague.

Wbk Wendy is vocal standard for 3rd Gen ggs SM struck gold with her thanks to her RV have the ability to do so many amazing vocal heavy songs

From what ive seen her criticism are true but how she interpret them is very subjective

And yet again Jeongyeon is recognized for her God send vocals but JYPe still treats her like sub vocals smh

Actually vocal technique in itself is still quite objective though their is still tension between vocal trainers about what should be considered bad or good (very simplified).

Then it is about how a person try to rank 2 singers on their ability to sing based on vocal technique that could be vastly different from one another. This part is the most subjective part, though the author tried to minimize that by creating a tier list instead of a clear ranking.

Also vocal technique is still view differently between countries, and is far from universal

I feel like the public is less interested in very technical vocal abilities nowadays. I don't think it will get better in the future. It also doesn't help that some of the best vocalists of the entire industry are still releasing songs to this day, so newer strong vocalists have less room. They also have a lot of time to develop, as some of the best 2nd gen vocalists were not born with godlike voices (maybe Sohyang she might).

The Siyeon one got me though, I think her conclusion was super harsh.

So in conclusion Wendy + Mamamoo supremacy yup yup

But either way, over time the song trends started to lean more into style rather than technique so that's probably why 3rd gen has less good vocalists. Just like how 4th gen is focused on performance.

That list is all over the place. On the top of my head;

Yuju gotta be up there between Wendy & Mamamoo

Hwasa & Seunghee 1-2 levels lower

Kei, Somin, Jeongyeon, Haseul also 1-2 levels lower

Rose & Miyeon should be on the same level with Nayeon below them

Jisoo strains every single note she sings so girl got no place in that list. She may end up like Bom if she doesn't correct her habits.

I Agree with all but selugi she should be Capable vocalists and you'll be lying if you said Nah she hits everything Wendy does with actual stamina, and her vocals are insane!!!! Plus putting the fact that dancing or moving and single is tricky selugi is one of the most stable singers whilst performing ever!

seulgi,rosé,joy,miyeon and jisoo deserve higher

It's true that she had regressed but she's been doing better since last year. And she's still better than/on par with Mamamoo even with the regress. There is absolutely no way she's on the same level with Seulgi, Jihyo & Jeongyeon...

What ??you don’t know izone have many great vocalists

Chaewon izone is underrated leader vocalist cause she have tons lines in izone songs now

Seunghee (Oh My Girl) is one of the best vocalists in the 3rd gen, but flies under the radar because Int'l fans don't follow OMG.

She is one of the most versatile singers, as when she performs, she tries to portray a singer aura rather than an idol.

Truth is you can't be labeled as one of the best singers if you don't perform solo or via competitions.

Wendy, Seunghee, MMMoo all have done that. There is so much material of them singing on YouTube, and they all really place well.

You are correct.

She had regressed, her sustained 5th octave notes carried tension but her phrased ones are mostly supported. So it's more of a consistency issues. Plus, she's been trying a different approach in singing which sometimes requires an implementation of bad vocal habits, this might be a factor as well.

However, she also improves in another department. Her low notes are better than ever, supported down to G#3 and even G3. Plus, she also have a connected and supported head voice up to F5 - and among 3rd generation vocalists, Wendy is the only one better than her in this department.

Yuju still has G3/G#3 - C5 - F5 with fair consistency. She should be above Hwasa, but probably below Wheein.
