Does anyone else think K-Pop is becoming too westernised?
Releasing English songs, debuting on Foreign TV shows. Releasing basic pop songs.

I think so too which is sad
Not to mention, their fans will still argue that the song is still kpop despite sounding like a literal basic pop song
WAIT U THINK IM TROLLING
No, not necessarily, but it is an often retreaded topic that the trolls like to bring up. So you could get associated with them.
I think topics like this need to be much more detailed and in-depth to spark actual discussion.
Just a caution not to end up looking like what you condemn.

ILL MAKE SURE I DON'T LOOK LIKE A JOBLESS PERSON
i agree with this. US Hegemony
Also, to stay on topic. K-pop was designed and based on western music.
Rapping, dance breaks, bridges, power vocals, base drops, you name it.
I know that, but still that era was limited to 1st gen. 2nd Gen brought a revolution imo.
It was made out of western trends I agree. But I don't think it was always this westernised.
Well your argument is English singles and performing on foreign tv shows. 2nd gen did that too. Not sure about 1st gen though.

Yeah but rarely tbh. Only acts I remember are Wonder Girls and SNSD in America
also Boa but she's 1st Gen
All pop around the world is based off American pop.
Kpop was based off American boyband music of the 90s.
Nowadays, though, Kpop is pretty distinct to me compared to pop music in the US. I dont see the comparisons between acts like Lil Nas, Drake, Weeknd, Ariana, Taylor vs BTS, BP, and Twice, they're completely different sounds. And this is in addition to the very obvious differences in terms of language and synchronized dance/performative aspects of Kpop.

This is what i'm talking about.
This is declining.
I do a bit but I think it's the way it's going considering how popular it is around the world. One of the reasons I liked K pop from the beginning was its unique sound and concept that I feel is being lost. Unless it's somebody I'm really interested in, I'm more or less a casual listener after ten years as a fan.
Yes, but kpop was always influenced by the west
No, bc i never saw a successful kpop group/act stop being 100% kpop and going to the west route..
I think kpop is losing it uniqueness and weird sound which was huge on 2nd gen, but all of this is happening bc the public is changing too.
Even less groups are becoming relevant with GP (not bc of the music, a lot of groups have top tier music but are unknown or "underappreciated" within s.k.) so companies and groups are going where the money is. And the money is on the global market and spreading even more.
The western sound shouldn't be the main culprit when the second biggest kpop GG in the west is literally Twice and they are famous since their early years with their "cute" sound.
I think we could say kpop is taking away their focus solely on Asia and trying to put all together and with a more "accepted" sound..
About schedules which you are obviously including Lisa. They (kpop in general) also are going where the demand is. They are moving like a international act/genre.
Anticipate The Feels for organic kpop song

Controversial but very true, slowly losing what made it popular and unique
We can discuss unique, but popular?
That doesn't make sense, K-pop is more popular right now than it has ever been, and it keeps increasing.
It's hard to accept for a lot of users, but people like how K-pop sounds rn, numbers don't lie.
different strokes for different folks i guess
listen to Chinese, Thai, Viet or Mongolian music instead
Why tho
Stream the superior English song
Trust icy on this you won't regret listening to it
