It's ironic that the biggest hit of fourth gen is a song that has zero music show wins

tbh this
Music shows have just been dominated by boy group fandoms cause they keep bulk buying the albums. If a song has okay digital charting and really good physicals sales, they'll basically win all week regardless of whether the song is a hit or not, meanwhile the songs that are hits barely get nominated. Basically Kpop fans have rigged the programs and they aren't an indicator of which songs are hits anymore.

This is true

music shows are very important for many idols as part of recognition. maybe if you allready got a lot, it wont matter that much anymore.
i didnt follow aespa show history closely so i only know about 2 shows they were nominated but cmbr won. as far as i know aespa could also have won them, since fearless is a smaller fandom.
i guess for next level its just various unfortunate circumstances like no points for phyical, several other releases with higer peaks but less longevity, smaller fandom compared to older artists, normaly it would allready have got a lot of wins.
you can chill, they have their whole career ahead of them. im sure they will get many wins in the near future.

But with this specific song, the issue was the late peak and that the song has GP support but they don't have the fandom to boost their YouTube and voting numbers.
Also, I feel like it's only some music shows that are hugely physically dominated like Music Bank.

lol if this goes on any further, most active artists will have beaten the most successful song.

That's largely been the case for 2021, but not for the past few years, where things have been fairly even.
I did some quick filtering of my music show win database, and here's what I found:
2020
BG wins: 105
GG wins: 120
2019
BG wins: 107
GG wins: 105
2018
BG wins: 117
GG wins: 105

Right, I think this is something that happened recently, this year. I mean it's just boy group after boy group completely dominating this year. Even Brave Girls who had viral hit of the decade could only get a week's worth of music show wins.

which song?

So why can't girl group fandoms bulk buy albums? This is the part I've never understood. Both bg fandoms and gg fandoms have the same access to albums, yet it's always "but the bg fandoms bulk buy!" why can't the gg fandoms do it too?

BTS has been quite active this year, so I think that's a factor given that they represent about a third of all boy group wins for 2021.
In addition, there appears to have been a sharp increase in overall boy group physical sales (best demonstrated by the rise of NCT Dream, who won 14 times in 2021 despite having only 6 wins prior to this year), so that's also a contributing factor I believe.

Boy group fans just tend to do it more. Thats why their sales are so inflated
GG fans do it too, but not to the same degree, which is why their sales aren't as high.
GGs tend to do better on charts, so one would assume their album sales would be higher. On the contrary, boy groups sell EXPONENTIALLY better, so make it make sense.

idk we went from NCT Dream winning everything for like 2 weeks, then Astro winning everything, then The Boyz winning everything, and now TXT is gonna win everything, and then Stray Kids is gonna win everything after them. Meanwhile girl groups get paid dust on music shows. It's getting boring.

well, to be fair. brave girls had nearly zero sns and voting points because no fandom at that time. let have blackpink make an comeback or 2-3 other girl groups with bigger fandoms hit big and it would look different. Seems like this year female artists just concentrate more on solo performance imo.

but music shows matter more for lesser known groups right?
-
Rather it shows music shows can be gamed.
Same category like sns, YouTube and voting can easily be manipulated by fans. That means regardless of how song ranks on the actual charts fans can artificially inflate it's music score.
Then theres albums. Currently counting albums can offset chart positions but the problem is that it's always not an equal opportunity. You can release a song without an album while another group releases an album which boosts their score. The way album points are counted means if you sell the majority albums in a given week you take home a significant portion of points which are often big enough to offset any digital score deficit.
Winning on music shows is more a case of having a big fandom and timing (release an album when most haven't and you eat up all the points). It hardly reflects the charts anymore.
