My tl is full with Threads and posts that goes like
“ OMG…. They played song by [Insert Kpop Group]” “ Ahhh this athlete is a [Insert Fandom name]”
If I wouldn’t check their site to see who won what… I would get more updates about the Kpop Songs played and Groups mentioned in the Olympics.
Kpop stans turn everything into their own event lol.

it's not. i know women who couldn't care less about football but find ronaldo hot and always watch his national team matches. people focus on what they care about. music? looks? fashion? who cares, lt makes them happy, let them be
True about Ronaldo but at least he's an actual athlete competing in the Olympics or World Cup or whatever. It makes sense to focus on all aspects of him, including his looks.
But getting obsessed about random songs and photos and signs being shown and played? What does any of that have to do with either the sport or the athlete?

I don't pay attention to the olympics cause I don't care about sports but I also saw people on my tiktok gushing about Haikyuu being played during the vollyball and Attack on Titan during the archery. So this really doesn't surprise me (and I don't mean that in the same negative way that you do). Those people probably weren't watching the olympics soley in hopes for some kind of reference to their faves (because how would they even know it was going to happen unless they were already tuning in to begin with?) but even if they were why should that matter? People can't do anything these days without others finding something to be offended by.
Christiano Ronaldo really cares about his looks and does a lot for it as well…it would be quite disrespectful to not comment on his looks or to find him hot when he obviously wants that attention.

they are focusing only on one aspect - his looks. hot, sweaty guy running on a football field does something to them. they don't care about football, they care about him, and him only
they are getting obsessed about random songs because knowing that you have something in common with the best athletes in the world and/or people you admire makes people happy. why are y'all try to portray that as a bad thing

Being amused by something means you can't view that something negatively? Didn't realize those things were exclusive. But in anycase, like I said, the olympics aren't something I care about or the happenings surround it, so I don't feel the desire to pick an argument over something so trivial.
