Is Next Level a National Hit?

might as well tbh. I dunno how Next level is doing among the older population though.

It's not officially banned but it's officially requested to be banned like RDD due to going viral among gp and distracting students who prepare for entrance exams because it's so addictive. But to answer you, I think it's moving like
a national hitReally Really Top Big Hit Song based on Korean data and metrics if it's requested to do that. I don't live in Korea so IDK but every time I see a Korean person talks about it, they hype it up like the next big thing. -

not yet. Unless they keep rising and pass BTS on the charts especially Melon.
That’s not required. If they have longevity it’s more important.
But in any case it’s too early to say anything.

Not sure if it’s a National hit just yet but it’s definitely a massive hit. It’s UL’s have been increasing like crazy every day and the dance has gone viral in Korea. Also all Aespa videos have been trending and continue to trend in Korea. It’s worth to note that the top 3 spots on Melon are all digimons/senior groups so Next Level is definitely the biggest 4th Gen hit since Dalla Dalla. All it needs now is longevity.
So far though, Next Level has been smashing and anyone who disagrees is delusional. You only need to look at the charts to see how well Aespa is doing

I said your statement was wrong is all. I don’t care about the rest.

Not really, but it's a hit for sure. They are going viral and being talked about a lot in s.k.

850M - 900M Digital Gaon Points is the current minimum threshold to be considered for national hit status. This used to be 1B but Gaon points have been down across the board since last year, i think for new songs released from 2020 to now, a lower standard is definitely acceptable.
But this is just minimum threshold. To fully qualify as a national hit, you need to take into account other factors. Did it peak at #1 on Gaon or Melon Weekly charts? If so, how many weeks? Did it win Gaon SOTM? Longevity is only part of the puzzle for national hit status, we need to talk about peaks as well. It's extremely difficult to award a song national hit status if it never reached #1 on the weekly charts, that's like giving the losing team the World Cup.

For those interested, i could only find these on TW regarding Next Level's chance to secure a #1 on Melon 24HRs. Next Level is 4th with around 400k UL as of 12+ hours ago. To get to #1, they would have to get another 115k + UL on Melon it looks like, overtaking Heize, OMG, and BTS.

Magic is such a groovy youthful bop, it has good lyrics, nice structure and melody definitely something radio listeners will like. I'm optimistic.
