Coz most international fans and non fans didn't like dumdi. This song sounds like a bop that may make international fans fall in love.
I'm not sure about the "rejected songs" narrative. Yes, HWAA was made a year ago. But they mostly waited for the right time to release it, which was the winter season. LATATA, I don't understand how Cube rejected the song since they ultimately chose it to be the title track. So it's quite unclear; maybe some people at Cube liked it, others not so much. I don't think it's all black or white.
People always convey the story that Cube is shit, that (G)I-DLE always have to fight an uphill battle. I'm not saying they have it easy, but at the end of the day Cube also made things happen. Plus, all songs and ideas can't be released all at once; some of them have to be put on the back burner for a while.

After Melon reformed, that "shit" charted better than most groups' song except Mamamoo, BTS and Blackpink in Kor. Big groups like Twice, Izone, Itzy comebacks couldn't reach that song's level.

Possibly because it is so different than what typical Cube "suits" have been exposed to. "Latata", "Hwaa", and "Weather" all are super mellow and incredibly easy to listen to. Very "slow burn" kind of music that draws from many genres like Latin, World, and Jazz. Yet they still manage to make it easy to digest!
Who does that?? Who does that well?? Not many, less than a handful of groups. The "kicker" is it doesn't sound like typical K-Pop. It is easy to assume these songs are for a Latin-based artist or group. I just listened to the instrumental tracks. This is a unique strength for the group. Cube hasn't had a group, that I know of, who is similar to this one, so it's human nature for some to be hesitant when dealing with something they haven't encountered before. I personally didn't like "Dumdi Dumdi". The production approach felt too shallow.
I can honest say that I don't like the name Cube gave this group of ladies either, but they are onto something that actually works well for the group! I'm going to start calling them "Chol-ida". All the group needs is some hot uptempos to balance out the mellow tracks and they will become an even bigger threat, especially if they have consistently good tracks each release.
They could push into the Top 3 International Female K-Pop group rankings, in my mind, if they have great uptempos and English and/or Spanish versions of their songs. I hope Cube doesn't screw it up with this group. What are the chances of landing a great group after having such a tarnished history with their groups over the years?

Guess what? Her songs chart the best among 4th gen groups (male and female) whose songs made by professional producers after Melon reformed. And was nominated in KMA 2020 (the Korean Grammy award evaluated by experts, not fan votes) for the best pop
