Should mods stop banning topics that don't break the rules of the forum?

  • I think it's best to have news threads, and off-topic threads named after them.

It's something Crystal is looking at doing once the Ador-Hybe thread reopens.

  • mods don't even bother relocating english or jpop song topics to the western entertainment or jpop section instead of leaving it in the kpop section. don't know if it's laziness or they just can't tell the difference between genres

  • but who determines if someone is breaking the rules other than the mods ....ADMIN!!! lol

the language of rules are static but it's the interpretation of them that is dynamic

what if the mods decide that what someone is doing is breaking the rules contrary to yours or mine interpretation of them?

  • Moderating should still follow rules

moderating isnt just about enforcing rules, its about enforcing the basic decency that certain people miraculously forget that they are supposed to have just because the internet is anonymous

i dont completely agree with superyeah regarding the chart discussions but i do see his stance about how easily weaponized it is. sure, it is not the only way fans can drag an idol/group but it is the thing most haters resort to so that they can hide behind its objectivity.

Because there are forums rules already if they interpret it that way they are free to point out what rule we were breaking when they decided to ban those conversations right?

That's my point tho as long as no one is insulting or being toxic there is no reason to ban those conversations

  • Weaponizing charts is not good for anyone, including the original poster.

Talking about charts positively is still fine. I don't see any instance where I or any other mod closed a charts thread that was made in good faith. I'm all for people celebrating their favorites' achievements.

So unless you're making a charts-related thread in bad faith, I don't see why you or anyone should worry.

I know you glaze Yama-Chan because you both hate Armys, but come on... Let's be honest here. Using charts to provoke people or incite heated discussions is toxic. Again, don't gaslight me into thinking it's not.

I generally agree with ^superyeah's comment above that merely using and commenting on charts isn't the problem

It's when you use those charts to weaponise or have an ulterior motive...

Is that against the rules? when no one is insulting the idols or calling them untalented or saying they suck? If i say look how poorly group A charter because i don't get along witrh group A's fandom and they get salty about it am i breaking a rule? Am i doing some unspeakable crime? superyeah already liked your comment but he won't really comment on what i am asking how is not power abuse to ban topics you don't like or ping threads you want when barely anyone comments on them

Yup. I haven't been around here as much to know what's going on with the other threads TwiceKaren might be referring to, but I closed the Yama-Chan charts-weaponizing ones for good reason. They were made for no reason other than to provoke.

obviously I'm not that familiar with the rules but if one is discussing weaponising charting then that could be seen as inciting fanwars???

  • Call me naive but I think all post are fine as long as it’s not a personal attack on someone’s character or appearance including idols of course because then that becomes bullying?

Which I haven’t seen in sometime!

At most nowadays it’s people arguing about who’s leading or if groups are still relevant that usually results in both parties posting evidence to support their claims, but it never turns into personal insults. So in theory it’s all fine

I know not everyone likes heated debates/that type of energy but people can ignore it :?:

  • Exactly

Being on AKP nowadays feels like eating boiled chicken, it have no savor, and plain

That explain why the activity is so low

The purpose of a forum is to let people share their opinion, and debate about subject

If someone wants to make a thread to provoke someone or a fandom let them

These people are smart ( i guess) to know if they want to take part or not in this debate

And if they want then they can just debate without being vulgar or personally attacking someone

And if they don't want to take part in any of these discussion there's enough thread where they can interact

Honestly, it become so boring to see how Mods are currently moderating the forum in a way to infantilize the users

  • But, at present, you can't blame the state of the forum of overmoderation.

If it's stale and boring, I dare say it's the constant negativity, chart wanking, bullying and bad faith garbage from a select circle of members that has driven away many people that want to actually have FUN with kpop. Not have fun being argumentative cunts that want to tear down what others enjoy, but people who want to enjoy kpop for it's fun, cute, silly things, it's inspiring things.

Those people all left (I also know where many are going). New blood isn't coming in, and if they ARE, it's only going to be more negative, bad faith, chart wanking cunts who want to take the bait.

By allowing constant chart wanking, and chart wanking that is used as a weapon to bring down the mood of others and dwell on negatives, AKP has driven itself to this end result.

So if AKP is boring, and only the negative, bad faith circle jerkers are left here... then it's clearly their fault.

  • No the reasons why akp is so boring and stale is because ppl care too much about what other people do and act like children that needs to have their innocence preserve

If people wants to talk about Chart let them be

if people want to use chart to praise theor favs let them be

If people want to talk about a group flopping in chart let them be

If people wants to talk about vocal or dance or stage presence let them be

How old are these people ? 5 years old ? 6 years old people ?

Why people care so much about what other people do

Someone is making a thread about your favs flopping in chart ?

Well guess what ? Nobody put a gun on your head to click on this thread an interact in them

People are clicking on thread that they know my hurt their little ego about their favs but still click on them knowing this

Just to cry and scream that they got hurt by this thread

    I'm sorry but it's stupid

If you're not interest in a thread DON'T CLICK ON IT

What are they ? 3 years old kids that still need to be teach by their parent "the don't touch, you'll be hurr" lesson ?

Cuz i don't understand this stupid logic of i'm going to click on this thread, oh i got hurt by thos thread, let me go and say that i left because a thread hurt me even if i knew the content of it because of the title of the thread

And yes now AKP is being moderated in an infantilizing way because of these people who have this kink of hurting themselves and then cry because they got the result that they expected coming in this thread

It's moderating in a way where mods are deleting threads that could create debate

Just to turn a kpop Forum

Into a news website where only the thread about new release, news about group activities and group content

So basically akp forum became just akp news at this point

Let me remind you all the meaning of what a forum is

"meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged"

A forum is a place where different ideas are share, positive or negative opinions

Where people talk about Charts, group content, news etc....

If people are not open to debate, or talking about different subject

There's tons of fandom forum, group chat, discord about kpop group

Then these people should go here, where they'll be expose only to opinion of their own fandom, where they'll discuss only about things related to theor favs and fandom, and where they will only listen and see positive things about their favs

In summary, a place where they'll be able to live in their little bubble

The reason why general kpop forum exist in contrary of fanbase forum

Is to have a place where different fandom interact around different subjects and be face with different opinions

And if the people you're talking about wants to become human bubble only surrounded by their peers, only see positive opinion and live surrended by rainbow, little pink bears let me know i'll gladly recommend them some forum only center around a group where they only see people nod to everything they say and only see positive things

  • Since this has NOTHING to do with KPOP, I have requested it be moved into The Lounge section.

Next time, use that section for NON-KPOP topics. Thanks.

You need to stop thinking you have the right to tell people what to do. just silently report it. Jesus christ. You deserve a warning point several times for backseat moderation. You are a nobody.

  • I'm with you. I have no idea what happened but if there are no personal attacks I'm fine with any discussion. If it gets heated, it's more interesting. If people cannot handle hiw heated it got they don't have to read it anymore. Forum is already dead, banning topics people want to talk about makes little sense to me.

  • I would say the problem is a bit vague rules, if the you read the rules it's only extreme things that looks to be forbidden, but you can get warnings and bans for stuff that are not really against the rules anyway.

    100% agree

People who wants to only see positive thingq about their favs and can't handle heated discussion

Should just move to a forum where people only talk about their favs or to a fandom discord

Not be on a kpop forum where everybody have the right to express whatever are their opinions or do whatever threads they want at the moment it's respectfull

And people who truly understand the point of a kpop forum shouldn't be penalize because qome people can't handle discussion
