    REMINDER

I know its frustrating that others do not see things the way you do, but I'd like to remind everyone that this is not a battle and you are not soldiers. You are debating an issue on a forum board. Having different opinions should not bleed into threats or accusations of serious -isms. I think you know what those are, but if you need a refresher, here are the rules. On such a hot button issue, please try to think twice before posting and once again, remember that you are talking to people.

Please especially refrain from attacking and generalizing either idols, users or an entire fandom because of your position on this issue. Address the arguments.

The Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon) today (21st) accepted ADOR's injunction request, which sought to prevent NewJeans' five members from engaging in independent activities such as signing advertising contracts.

The article is very brief, so more details will come to light.

  • But I am scared now.

Is The injunction result more like saying their termination is not valid or it is just saying they need to wait until their lawsuit finish ?

    :emotionalpepe:

It is a temporary hold until the main lawsuit is resolved, which starts in April.

Njzpr just posted and confirmed ComplexCon is still on, so hopefully Bunnies show the girls lots of love this weekend. They'll need it.

  • NJZ PR:

    Hello, this is NJZ.
Today, the court has issued a ruling on the injunction. We at NJZ respect the court’s decision. However, we believe that this ruling did not fully take into account the fact that the members’ trust in ADOR has been completely shattered. Due to the nature of injunctive relief, which requires swift action, the decision was made in just about two weeks after the hearing on March 7, 2025, leaving us with insufficient opportunity to fully present the specific facts to the court. Additionally, due to information asymmetry, ADOR and HYBE have access to all information regarding the members' entertainment activities, whereas the members must individually reach out to various parties to request information. The pressure and fear of retaliation associated with being involved in the lawsuit have also made it difficult for many people to cooperate.
We plan to challenge today's injunction ruling through an objection procedure, raising additional legal issues and supplementing our supporting evidence as much as possible in the process. Most importantly, the members faithfully fulfilled their contract obligations up until the point of termination and bear no fault, whereas ADOR and its parent company, HYBE, have continuously subjected them to unfair and discriminatory treatment, destroying their trust. It is only a matter of time before the truth becomes clear.
An injunction is only a temporary decision.
A main lawsuit is also ongoing to determine the validity of the exclusive contract, and at the hearing scheduled for April 3, we will once again assert that the contract was lawfully terminated. Unlike in the injunction process, the main lawsuit allows for broader use of civil litigation procedures to obtain necessary evidence, which we believe will significantly strengthen the members' claims.
Although the NJZ members are going through a difficult time, they are doing their best to remain composed and steadfast, keeping in mind the many fans and supporters of Bunnies and NJZ. NJZ places the utmost importance on its promises to fans and is committed to giving its all in the remaining legal proceedings to be able to engage with fans in a happier and more fulfilling way. As we have repeatedly stated before, we cannot continue working with a company that has insulted our dignity and belittled our achievements, regardless of financial matters. The reason we are pursuing legal action is to protect our values and human rights.
Meanwhile, after much deliberation, we have decided to participate in the Complex concert scheduled for March 23 to prevent unexpected harm to fans who are looking forward to the concert and to the many people involved in its preparation.
We ask for your continued support and encouragement as we move forward.

  • "prohibit NJZ the signing of advertising contracts."

    That sounds limited in scope.

signing yes but even their current contract needs to be fullfill only after having the approval or the consent of ADOR so they are blocked anyway

and honestly losing the injunction is never a good thing in a trial, cause most of the time the injunction show to each side how strong is your case

"Although temporary, the injunction is “quite significant” as it signifies that the band’s legal case is “either extremely weak or virtually nonexistent” according to Sangrock Kho, a lawyer at South Korea’s Law Firm Pil.

“Under the Korean judicial system, in cases like this where an agency files an injunction to suspend an artist’s activities, the proceedings are generally very favorable to the artist,” he told CNN over email. “This is because courts are usually extremely reluctant to issue injunctions that could cause irreparable harm to an artist’s career by restricting their freedom of occupation.

“Given that, the fact that the court has nevertheless issued this type of injunction suggests that, after reviewing all the claims, evidence, and extensive presentation materials … the court concluded that NewJeans’ argument — that the breakdown in trust was entirely caused by Hybe and Ador — lacks sufficient legal basis.”"

Wow, someone call the korean bar association some village is missing it's idiot and they're pretending to be a lawyer.

Ok first of all, this isn't significant, this isn't just an "injunction" it's a preliminary injunction. This has been granted so many times and it only lasts until the court case ends... which starts on April 3... I mean for gods sake describing a prelim injunction as "irreparable harm" when the court date starts in 2 weeks and will last at most 6 months maybe a year at the very most ridiculous longest? Calling that "irreparable harm" LOL.

Then on top of that suggesting that this is indicative of what would/could happen further down? My god, has this person ever taken part in a prelim? I swear to god some intern wrote that email not a real lawyer. This has to be one of the asinine things I've ever seen written down.

oh god, I've just realised, PIL is not a lawfirm, it's a catchall name for Public Interest Law in korea, they're like human rights charities and shit... the equivalent in England and Wales would be a Citizens Advice Bureau and in the US those "Free Legal Advice Clinics"... LOL oh man CNN keep going with the quality journalism.

  • Any judge who sees the comment the current CEO made about NJZ, and still decides to rule in ADOR's favor, is bought and paid for aka corrupt. No way a man gets caught in 4k saying he wants to intentionally ruin their value and a judge thinks it's in the group's best interest to keep them in his company.

That thread preview really captures the emotional roller coaster. Might put it on an album.

  • so they haven't lost? i'm so bad at legal jargon

  • Its sad some get so emotional over this they have to resort to threats, lol.

Anyway, its sad that these kids were gas lit so bad by a crazy lady. In the end, if they want to exit that badly maybe they can find someone to pay their fees. Not sure how it works but if they do, pay the fees and leave can they be barred from releasing/performing in certain venues based on industry standards?

  • No one wants to wake up to the news I woke up to this morning. No one. I was preparing my coffee, turning on wi-fi and the first thing I read is: “The court has granted ADOR's injunction request to prohibit the NewJeans members to carry out independent activities under the name NJZ”. I blinked my eyes countless times and I went on X just to see more and more posts about it. I couldn’t believe it. My NJZ dream was over and there I was at 8AM sitting in my kitchen looking at the screen of my Android.

I know this may sound a bit too much but… Yes. Tears started falling from my eyes and they wouldn’t stop. I don’t consider this to be an over dramatic reaction like many of you could easily consider. I look at it as unconditional love, dedication and passion. Something unexplainable, no one can translate love into words or even admiration. Some people get your attention and you don’t know why. And while I am fully aware that NJZ are not over, they’re just forced to be in ADOR, I also am aware that it’s never going to be the same. It doesn’t matter if it is Minji or Hanni or Danielle or Haerin or Hyein. It doesn’t. I saw this girlgroup being born when they were just five little girls. A few years later they turned into strong and confident women and extremely inspirational. They brought the term “girlgroup” back in the music industry and scored two of the biggest hits of this new decade. I was obsessed and extremely proud of it.

Every NJZ fan was aware that the members were not happy. Ever since “Ditto” became a smash, something went wrong and the relationship between HYBE and the five girls has always been weird. There’s indifference and I don’t know what to think. Nonetheless, I am no one to judge that. All I want to make clear is: NJZ are never going to be NJZ again and that’s why I feel like my dream has been crashed. My NJZ dream has ended. It hurts so bad when you’re not prepared… After all they announced a new song weeks ago.

And no. I am not turning my back on NJZ. This was a rough decision but I know what it's like to be in a place where you don't belong or feel included and sometimes... It's better to just go for it.

Yet, I always like to see things from the bright side and I am going to always support NJZ as a group just like any of the five girls as individual acts. They’ve had an amazing and beautiful impact in my life.

    NewJeans… Good luck.

    NJZ… Good Luck.

    NJZ…

Thank You. You’ve given me the ultimate fan experience and you’ve been so inspirational. All of you.

    You’re my Hype Girls

    NJZ

  • This is fresh for me, and I'm stealing this.

You tagged me specifically to get a reaction, and now you want to act all :meme-surprised-pikachu-face: when the exact reaction everybody would expect from such a stupid decision ends up happening.

If you want to pretend like you're some innocent spectator, and not a pot stirring malcontent who has spent the past year typing hate letters to NJZ in the comments section of articles on the AKP main site, here is some advice for you going forward.

Don't throw yourself into the lions' den and expect sympathy when you get mauled.

Yours truly didn't go at or mock ARMY when Suga was commiting crimes and earned himself a DUI, but here you are trying to start shit with me.

It would be salubrious for you to refrain from doing that and/or tagging me in the future.

  • I've read enough various articles to understand roughly what is going on and what went down in court but questions still remain:

    1. an injunction to my knowledge prevents someone from doing something and in this case it prevents NJZ members from undertaking independent activities (unless with Ador's consent) but does it create any positive requirements for NJZ to do something - ie. do they have to comply with (within reason) Ador's request to do things - cfs? variety shows? new music? dance/singing practices?

    2. What does a (potential?) breach of the injunction mean? damages? penalties? parties go back to court? does it rise to contempt of court? how is the injunction enforced and against whom? obviously the ruling doesn't bind third parties right?

    3. what of obligations that NJZ entered into post termination - do NJZ have to comply with those? or only with Ador's permission? does that mean NJZ must give and allow Ador to see and view those contracts? does that allow Ador to find out who produced/wrote NJZ new music - also who owns such music? NJZ? ador? someone else? is it only a monetary question? Can ador request NJZ provide all details of every activity independently undertaken by NJZ during the limbo period?

    4. what of NJZ's social media and stuff - are they prevented from using/posting under NJZ and jeanzforfree?

    5. what does an appeal entail? does it mean that the injunction is still enforce until the appeal is decided? how is the appeal to be decided concurrently with the actual court case set for April 4? what if NJZ win the appeal - what does that mean like NJZ was allowed to undertake independent activities all along?

so many questions that probably don't have simple answers...
