It lacked all the strong Aespa-esque vibe. Even their outfits were not Next Level like the rest. Black Mamba had more character too.
Aespa was lost with Spicy in my opinion.

I disagree. I think it's underrated. It was a fun summer song that still maintained some of Aespa's essence. Spicy is how to do an Aespa-summer song imo (and not songs like Better Things..)
Girls is easily their worst. It's just a bad song. In my eyes Spicy was actually the recovery from Girls and helped them build momentum for Drama.

I always ignore japanese songs, i find 95% of them awful. I include my faves too. Awful.

Spicy was the definition of mid. There wasnt a single redeeming quality about it, just incredibly average and safe and boring. Same with Drama.
Folks rip on Savage but at least that song had an EPIC bridge which singlehandedly raised it to a bop level. Even Girls had that addictive choreo during the chorus and the chorus itself was quite catchy. Black Mamba was solid, even Whiplash has some epic parts, and of course everyone knows how much i love Supernova and Next Level.

For Girls marked the beginning of next level Aespa. It's concept is so sophisticated and gave Aespa their unique charm.
Yeah. SPICY is also my least favorite title from them.
And GIRLS is a bop. I will not allow any GIRLS slander here.

I think Spicy is the song they had to have and was so perfectly placed as a soft re-intro to Aespa after a long hiatus.
IMO it helped bring them in to the next phase of their career, and helped as sort of a palate cleanser between Girls and Drama.
Showed off their diversity and concept wise brought them back to the 'real world'.
For me, Next Level has aged the worst.
And Girls is a bop IDGAFFFFFFFFF

It's probably Next Level or Savage for me. They are the only two Aespa title tracks that I have been skipping lately.
