That is a weird mix of 3. and depends on the context. If it is S. Korea the country and not Kpop or charts etc.,
Then from Kpop there are only 2 active acts who are unambiguously 'Big'

They do not cause social media chatter internationally you mean. Which makes sense because both of them are not as big as the trendy groups internationally
Plenty of posts and other chatter exist about GD and IU in Korea where they are relevant.

Yeah, this isn't true, like at all. I mean, I literally work on Insta and all I see is even little kids doing G-Dragon covers, and not just in Korea. GD is all over on Tiktok and Insta.
IU not as much, but still when she was active and her World Tour was still ongoing she was all over Insta as well. Even Kpop Idols are posting about them, and actors as well.

Sure, mate, sure. He sold 900K albums so far, but yeah, his numbers are average. Who cares if kids don't know him? He has loyal fans all around the world. Most of these new Kpop stans only know one or two Kpop groups, and that's all. They're irrelevant, because they're the minority!
