I hope Nj knows that the longer they wait to re-debut, the more hype they might lose

  • The GP is so fickle, they can be loyal to you today but abandon you the next day. I'm afraid that the longer this whole situation takes to wrap up, the more it will negatively impact Nj.

It doesn’t seem like they have a company backing them right now, and there’s no sign of new music coming anytime soon. Their last releases were in May and June last year, and even those came almost a year after their 2023 songs. By Njs’ standards, their comeback last year already underperformed in terms of chart longevity in Korea. Plus, their Spotify streams for both songs have dropped significantly too. So, we already kinda see how this whole things effecting them, as they can't promote much.

Nj is still a rookie group trying to strengthen their fanbase, and this whole feus is happening before they’ve even hit their 2nd anniversary. They’re not like Big Bang or IU, who can survive basically any scandals without much damage. I really hope we see Nj back soon, so the girls can rebuild their momentum and reputation.

  • Thats it's why I always have said it was a stupid move for them to fight Ador/Hybe. If it take most of 2025 before they either get back to Hybe or reach some kind of settlement/win in court to be able to put out music under an other label.

It's probably a bigger problem for them internationally I think.

The problem is even bigger when they probably need to change their concept a bit. They are getting older, they can't do the young teenage cute stuff much longer. Things will be even worse if they need to change the name of the group. A long break, and maybe new name and concept maybe is not the best way to go.

But at the same time, BP have survived a long times between singles without any bigger problems. The difference what that they had a big more mature concept for a bit older fans.

i don't care about newjeans' success or hype. I'd much rather prefer newjeans be allegedly less successful but free and happy instead them being maybe more successful but having to suffer everyday stuck in hybe.

They made the right decision to stand up for themselves and fight instead of just quietly suffering under hybe.

  • You are making it sound like it was their choice. They had to finish nj schedule till january and will start NOW.

The court will be this month and if something goes wrong then money will be wasted on nothing.

Blackpink had a longer hiatus and did fine. How sweet still did good despite gp not liking it as much as their earlier songs and I don't blame them. No group would be able to survive on charts if they released that song and NJ's name saved it.

Gallup survey had 3 nj songs 2 of which were released this year in spring - how sweet and supernatural.

They're not gonna flop. They will be fine. And if the public loves the song they will do great. Whatever happens they already built their names in kpop culture.

  • Even if they knows, it's not like they can do much about it ;judgingpepe: It's very unlikely that they would be able to release new music faster by staying with Ador. Current Ador is an empty shell, all the producers/composers that worked with NJ are linked to MHJ and would never work with Ador without MHJ.

Leaving Ador is the only way for NJ to keep working with the people they like and to keep their identity.

  • So your just going to pretend like Hybe hasn't been outed for trying to put newjeans on hiatus for a year and a half?

Even if they need to change their concept, its not like they need to endlessly plagarise like Hybe, and its also not like they burned all their bridges with the teams who actually made their music, MV's and were the creative team behind them. They will be fine. How about instead of doom posting on them wonder how Hybe is going to debut another 2 GG's and who they are going to plagiarise for their concept next?

Like NJ didn’t plagiarize the Mexican group Jeans, don’t act like MHJ is innocent lol

    :uh-uh-bunny:

  • Like NJ didn’t plagiarize the Mexican group Jeans, don’t act like MHJ is innocent lol

    :uh-uh-bunny:

Never said she was innocent, but there is a vast difference between her and the endless mess Hybe has been pushing out. Never seen a company have so many issues with plagiarising from literally every group they have and yet they keep plagarising and yet you think that she and the entire crew behind newjeans is the same as Hybe who is constantly having to pay people off and add credits when called out? sit down and shut up.

  • Agreed, that they need new music to remain relevant in public mind space.

But disagree that the shouldn't have fought HYBE, bcoz hadn't they, then it would have been the dungeons for them.

As an aside, it is not the GP who is weird by being "obsessively loyal" to an entertainment act, but fandoms.

GP truly goes only by the music, if they like it they like it, if not they don't give a damn.

    That's the most honest thing.

  • Like NJ didn’t plagiarize the Mexican group Jeans, don’t act like MHJ is innocent lol

    :uh-uh-bunny:

I'm happy to see you drop the act and show everyone your true nature as a dedicated NewJeans anti. Now I just need you stop using stale tea that got thrown out months ago

The members of Jeans themselves came out and said NewJeans didn't plagiarize them and they were happy to see the 90s aesthetic is still alive and well.

We also already knew NewJeans' nostalgic aesthetic and concepts were heavily inspired by the Y2K era of fashion and music, so OBVIOUSLY there will be overlapping similarities. Guess what? If that's plagiarism, then ALL K-Pop is guilty of it, since the genre itself is heavily inspired by black artists and old school hip hop/r&b.

Lastly, Jeans is a 20 year old group from another country.

NewJeans had their concepts stolen and their production formula copied for another group in their own company, when NJ themselves are essentially still rookies. And that was without their consent and knowledge.

These two situations differ greatly from each other, and one is actual plagiarism while the other isn't.

I hope this clears up any misunderstandings you may have still. Friend.

  • Right right, it’s just inspired when New Jeans does it but plagiarism when everyone else does it. Typical thought process from you. My point was MHJ says all her ideas are original which is flat out bullsh@t. I knew I block you for a reason have a nice 2025 Yama💞

Now you're making up a false narrative, or a strawman, to double down on your clearly uninspired arguments.

Min Heejin has been explicit about the references and aesthetics she pulled from when creating the girl group she envisioned.

And I'm also not surprised the overall point flew right over your head, so let's try to simplify this for you.

ALL K-Pop groups borrow heavily from the sounds and aesthetics that started the genre in the 90s. You think BTS is completely original?

But there is a difference between being inspired by a decades old group and SECRETLY TAKING THE PLANNING DOCUMENTS FOR A GROUP UNDER YOUR OWN LABEL.

    Use some common sense.

And speaking of bullshit, you block me (not that I care) because I don't tolerate yours. Better go back to your safe HYBE stan brigaded echo chamber that is the comments section of the main site.

Have a good 2025. I know you'll be spending a ton of time there just like you did in 2024.

  • My point was MHJ says all her ideas are original which is flat out bullsh@t

    Except she's never said this.

NewJeans whole concept is that of nostalgia and old trends, obviously they're inspired by 90s/y2k era fashion. Everything they "stole" from Jeans is what everyone from that era was doing and not unique to them.

She never said inspiration was bad, the issue was always that labels in the same company were openly copying each other like that.

Even if you don't feel like Illit resembles NewJeans, it's a failure on Belifts part that everyone else did

Go down to point #3. They aren't even the same choreo. There is a reason why those troll accounts only use still pics to make plagarism accusation.

  • Thats it's why I always have said it was a stupid move for them to fight Ador/Hybe.

    No it wasn't.

They are getting older, they can't do the young teenage cute stuff much longer.

Their Y2K concept is one they have perfectly emobodied and will continue to do so. Y2K never depended on "the young teenage cute stuff" so they'll be just fine.

Plus, if you have 30 years olds being forced to do aegyo on variety shows, I think a group of young girls doing "the young teenage cute stuff" will not make a difference.

  • Why does Y2K == teenage cute stuff? How Sweet was a Miami Bass song and Supernatural was a New jack swing song. Out of the four songs, the only cute school concept was Bubble Gum.

  • they need to endlessly plagarise like Hybe

Like NJ didn’t plagiarize the Mexican group Jeans, don’t act like MHJ is innocent lol

    :uh-uh-bunny:

I try not to reply to these kinds of posts, but hey, new year, maybe a refresher is in order.

All of you focused on plagiarism itself are missing the point IMO.

The difference is that, for all intents and purposes, in only one case did it look like they were trying to bury an active group signed to a label under their own company through plagiarism.

Not that plenty of other companies don't seem to be guilty of burying their own groups in one way or another as well, but this is one of the current dramas playing out since it involves a hugeass company and uber popular group.

  • Personally, I don't even see any similarities and I've yet to encounter someone who has provided evidence of the plagiarism that so many people mention.

    :meme-what:

The Belift CEO admitted to receiving the planning documents for NewJeans and he was also caught lying about the timeline for deciding on ILLIT's concept.

Belift never even refuted receiving the planning documents; their best defense was that they only received them after they had "finalized" the branding strategies and concepts for ILLIT.

Even if that were true (and we know it's bullshit), that still means they confirmed accessing ADOR/NewJeans materials without the consent or even knowledge of the original creators. My friend, that is textbook STEALING from another creative's content. In a way, it's even worse than standard plagiarism.

  • I know about all of that but I mean the actual similarities. Other than planning documents.

Yk kinda like how xPaulettex showed that image with the side by side. That's what I'm looking for. That's what I mean when I say I see no similarities.

All the side by sides that I've seen (i dont even remember any of them) didnt point to plagiarism for me.

Also: ADOR should've done a better job at keeping their planning docs protected if they didnt want it to be stolen.

But then again ig they didn't think one under the same company would stoop that low.

Edited once, last by CaraFIMIE ().

  • Aren't the girls actually going on events rn?

I feel like there were active groups that felt more like they were in the dugeon than NJ that is currently through a legal battle lol

But I agree, but I don't think they can do much.. I think they could use the hype and redebut under NJZ or something

  • I think ppl are also forgetting the outcomes of the legal stuff will definitely have an impact too. If MHJ is found guilty or not etc.

    Not at all.

The biggest impact on the girls is whether or not they need to pay to leave. They cannot be FORCED to stay at HYBE; that is literally slavery, and it's what most ARMY are demanding. Enslavement or disbandment.

Neither will happen. We already have proof big brands aren't dropping them (they're not even staying neutral; they're supporting them) and they remain the most popular celebrities in South Korea, so the public is on their side too.

In their bid to keep them, HYBE all but guaranteed NewJeans will thrive without them

  • Like NJ didn’t plagiarize the Mexican group Jeans, don’t act like MHJ is innocent lol

    :uh-uh-bunny:

Lol, like you ever watched mexican jeans to make claim MHJ "plagiarize" them. Even to say Jeans was NJ inspiration is ridiculous and complete ignorance. MHJ is fucking genius if she made NJ from whatever jeans concept was.

But hearing BTS fans accusing NJ copying must be the funniest thing considering how BTS start their career. Maybe also be the reason why they really adamant defending "belift never copy NJ". Like senior, like junior.

  • Whenever i see someone mention that mexican group, i know that it's just a hater that shouldn't be taken seriously ;judgingpepe: They sound nothing alike, their MVs are nothing alike. All the people who made the effort to look at Jeans work know that the "inspiration" accusation is complete bullshit. They are not even any reason to take inspiration from Jeans as this group is really not high quality

  • Thats it's why I always have said it was a stupid move for them to fight Ador/Hybe. If it take most of 2025 before they either get back to Hybe or reach some kind of settlement/win in court to be able to put out music under an other label.

They made the right decision to stand up for themselves and fight instead of just quietly suffering under hybe.

When I said it's a "stupid move" I of cource mean in the light of them keeping the hype and being able to reach the same success as they have had during the first two years. If they are prepared to give that up and it makes it feel better not being in Ador/Hyby it's of cource a good move for them personally. But I seriously doubt their life and living situation will be much better outside Hybe, probably the opposite.

What?.... have they not have like... 9 singles in like.... less than 2 years since the debut in 2022 to the start of 2024? oh sorry 10 with the japanese single. And two of those in 2024. How can you call that being in hiatatus for 1,5 years...??

Maybe you should look at Blackpink and how many singles they have had the last 7 years or so.

And NewJeans can only blame themself and you know the crazy woman that talks with shamans that the rest of 2024 was put on hold.

And a newsflash..... it's impossible to make music and kpop concept that are totally unique and don't have some kind of similiaries with other groups. Stop pretending NJ hare speciall, they are not. Have you played compture games? All games have some similiarities with some other games. Stop talking about this stupid "plagiarising", it's things that allways are talking place, using similiar concepts and style.

  • Why does Y2K == teenage cute stuff? How Sweet was a Miami Bass song and Supernatural was a New jack swing song. Out of the four songs, the only cute school concept was Bubble Gum.

Not everything is the same "cute teenage stuff" of cource and this is probably a step to a new more mature concepts.

And the queastion is if they still are the same level of popularity? When I check out the Youtube views on How Sweet it's around 50M, sure most kpop groups would be very happy with numbers like that, but if you check Supernova/Aespa they haver around 160M views, Babymonster also around 160M views with Forever, both released a bit after How Sweet. So the queastion is if that song was as popular as their previous ones?
