If you think about it Gidle debut is closer to Mamamoo and Red Velvet than Le Sserafim or Newjeans. Would you consider them as top 3 group in 3rd gen?
If Gidle would count as 3rd gen group, do you think they are above Mamamoo and Red Velvet?

number-one
Changed the title of the thread from “If Gidle count as 3rd gen group, do you think they are above Mamamoo and Red Velvet?” to “If Gidle would count as 3rd gen group, do you think they are above Mamamoo and Red Velvet?”. -

Fandom wise yes, but hit wise MMM and RV are above them so nope.
-
They are 3rd generation yes, because 4th generation started earliest around 2022 with NJ. (if we really need to use the concepts of generation). But I would say Red Velvet is bigger, but pretty much even.

They look nothing alike.
quite subjective but i do think they look quite alike at times

Yes

Red Velvet's career peaked in their 4th year and G-idle's in their 6th year.

Mamamoo have some of the biggest hits of third generation, and till this day remain the group with the most cumulative unique listeners in MelOn history. They also scored a Perfect All-Kill back when they were much harder to get and before Red Velvet, even though they debuted in the same year.
Put some respect on their names.

Above MMM but not above Red Velvet

Below rv,above mmm

Above MMM below RV

Above MMM below RV
Below rv,above mmm
There isn't that much of a gap between RV and MMM at all.
Also, have IDLE ever been popular enough to sneak drop a B-Side and get a RAK or have multiple members get PAKs with their solo songs? Or go head to head with BLACKPINK and win?
You people really don't know anything about what Mamamoo accomplished in their era.

below RV for sure. Hard to say for mamamoo, they have more hits in SK it seems but obviously Idle wins in numbers like touring/sales and international reach.
This is driving me insane. INSANE.
It makes NO SENSE to say this. The same reasons you would place IDLE above MAMAMOO are the same reasons you'd put them above Red Velvet.
Their sales and touring numbers completely eclipse anything Red Velvet have done, and they have more PAKs to boot.
The differences between RV and MMM are minimal if you look at their careers in totality.
In fact, during most of the third generation, Mamamoo had just as many hits and their solo efforts were magnitudes more successful too. And they were consistent chart toppers until their eventual decline, whereas Red Velvet were up and down more often.
Peak MMM and Peak RV were essentially equals.
So, if you choose IDLE, just rank them above both.

They quite literally did this last year and it was the 2nd biggest gg song after supernova

That's a complete mis-use of the word literally. Let me use it correctly.
Fate was literally a song on a promoted album that steadily rose up the charts.
That is completely different from MAMAMOO literally dropping a random song on a random Tuesday with ZERO promotions and getting a Real Time All-Kill within a day.
These two situations are not the same, and it demonstrates the grip Mamamoo had on the public at their peak.
Yet I see someone claiming they weren't top league.
Sure, the group that could pull that off, along with out charting BLACKPINK while setting a new MelOn record simultaneously, was not a top league group.
The disrespect MAMAMOO gets in international spaces is tired and absurd.
-
All three are quite equal or on the same level.
Always though Red Velvet's success is more inflated than people think and G-idle has around the same number of hits than Red Velvet already at this stage of their careers, and I mean we dont even need to look at album sales and other metrics because that has never been Red Velvet's strong suit
Only argument for RV is that they felt bigger during their era because ppl think of them as the 3rd biggest gg/part of the big 3 etc because they belong in an era where ggs are not as dominating as nowadays.
They will be behind many 4th/5th gen ggs in a few years imo and they are already behind Newjeans, IVE, Aespa now in most metrics

I mean, I can't really disagree with you since I don't know for sure. You say they are close, and in numbers that may be true, but in impact/legacy I really can't say. And since it's pretty much impossible to compare stuff like touring/sales across the peaks of these groups, we are basically just comparing # of hits and impact/legacy. I know RV and Mamamoo have as many or more hits than G-Idle. And I'm pretty certain RV's impact during their peak is greater than that of Idles, so I put them above. You'll notice I never answered for Mamamoo because I don't know the answer to their impact vs G-Idles, I only know they have more hits.

Nah, 4th gen started earlier than that. Either 2019 or 2020 is when 4th gen started.

4th gen started in 2018.
My answer to the topic is... ... honestly, I don’t really care enough about GG's to have a strong opinion. It’s interesting to see how people view success differently. At the end of the day, how you measure success really depends on what you personally value. It’s just sad that people can’t have a normal discussion about it without things turning into a fight.

Yuppp. My new years resolution was to not get involved in such fights anymore but thats not going very well.

Their impact was massive as well. I don't feel like achievement spamming, because I'm saving it for a future thread, but Mamamoo had a title too.
BeLisMaMoo
Believe and Listen to Mamamoo. There were many things that Mamamoo pioneered, but reshaping the entire concept of what an idol singer is supposed to sound and look like was one of the huge impacts of their career.
There was a time where the Korean public was obsessed with them. But just take my word for it for now, as someone who lived through it. I even went to Seoul and confirmed their popularity, recording all the many ads and Mamamoo songs I heard just wandering around.
Anyway, don't listen to anyone who downplays Mamamoo's popularity during the third generation. They're either uninformed or intentionally hating.

Just block the negative people. For the most part it will make your time on the forum much better. The block system isnt perfect but it does its job. Just some helpful advice.

And how long did she last
The feat alone was enough of a flex
Name a single girl group that isn't top shelf who could pull that off.
Today, only NewJeans could do it, I'd wager.

It's kind of ironic this advice is being given to a user who made multiple bait threads about NewJeans, made light of Hanni's concerns about being in an unsafe and unsupportive work environment and then doubled down on being ignored by your co-workers not being a big deal.
They are clearly making an effort to be less of a troll, but they didn't have an issue avoiding fights because they didn't know how the block function works; they couldn't avoid them because they STARTED the fights, to the point I had to tell them to stop tagging me.
Nobody is fighting in this thread by the way. A disagreement isn't a fight.

She fell off
Thought so
They never even promoted it once until after the song made a big splash
All songs are fated to fall off eventually.
Except for Hype Boy

I tried. They keep interacting with me despite labeling my "bait" threads as low-level trolling unworthy of engagement.
-
Despite you blocking them you won't see threads they make but you'll see in threads that the person's post is hidden just dont click it. You won't get notified if they quote or reply to your threads. Use some willpower to avoid clicking on their hidden message. It doesn't block them from seeing your posts unfortunately.
They want that attention just don't give it to them.

Well it's a good thing we have you and David here to constantly keep us informed of this lol. I'd bet Idle will be downplayed the same way in the future.

I will never let accomplished non-Big 3 girl groups be excluded from the conversation and treated like they don't have a seat at the table of queens.
I already made a few IDLE threads last year as proof of that.
I'm just particularly sensitive to it when it comes to Mamamoo, because Big 3 fandoms tried to gatekeep them for years. I'll make a thread about all of it at a later date.
