Do you even check out content anymore?

i was never a big content watcher tbh; but i've been getting into it more and more recently.

i'll watch it if it's posted here and has my faves. but, both of the groups you mentioned have at least a decent amount of content considering how old the group is. you can't expect them to pump out content every other day.

oh yeah im a massive kpop shorts consumer so i guess it makes up for my lack of content-watching

I enjoy quite a few groups, but the only groups content I actually watch is Babymonsters their Haunted House episodes from last year are some of my favourite youtube content I've watched in years.

I get bored easily with variety stuff, but I watch around 30-40% of them, also I watch majority of their shorts, and almost all of their performances so I’m very involved with the groups that I stan

Maybe they just aren’t putting in the effort to seek out such content because MEOVV has:

A whole variety show of their own

A “behind the scenes” video for each MV

Two “behind the scenes” videos for the member teasers

STUDIO CHOOM performance videos

Multiple NPOP appearances

Two variety show appearances

3 or 4 radio talk show appearances

A whole MAMA performance

Constant shorts/reels/TikToks

It’s honestly hard to keep up with, so I don’t know what more people want.

BABYMONSTER has had an amazing year in terms of content, too. They already got four music videos for their latest album, one more MV on the way. Rami and Ahyeon were on Lee Mujin Service. Ahyeon and Pharita went on Begin Again Open Mic. The group went on that one variety show hosted by Jonathan. That’s just some of it. Tru-Multistan can elaborate on this.

I think people just see a YGE group or a Teddy-directed group and think “Ah, another YGE group stuck in the dungeon” and run with that narrative without actually checking out the content.

Or maybe we’re just getting lazy or losing interest when it comes to content.

I think my attention span is fried from watching too many short form videos. I can't even sit through tv shows without skipping it or putting it at 1.5x spd.

The new groups don't have as many active fan accounts. Usually, it takes time before one or two really good ones to pop up. Until then, it won't show up on shorts/reels through the algos, and a lot of people consume Kpop content through these short form fan account vids.

Sometimes. But my attention span have gotten worse. I can't even binge watch anymore. It can take me days to finish a long video.

I don't know man I think there is alot of contents for both of the groups, personally I can't keep up. I'm busy with other stuff in my life

Like I said in the whole 3rd/4th gen v 5th gen thread, it's a time thing I think

Post-pandemic, people are back very much full time work/school, back on site and with cost of living crises worldwide, doing a lot MORE work just to get by.

Which means less time to devote to things, especially longer form variety content and decisions made about what to consume.

Personally, I come home from a 9.5 work day and 10-40 minute transit and, if I go home, between tidying up house and cooking dinner, before bed, I have limited time for hobbies

In that time I choose between

Catching up on TV shows I watch

Reading comics I read

Recently, painting minis

Gaming, especially online games with daily check in content like Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai Star Rail

Reading

Other online content like forums

Other Youtube content I watch

Idol variety content

I only got so many hours in a day and I gotta choose what things I wanna do and what I gotta skip. Increasingly, its idol variety content.

I don"t even check most of the content about my faves these days. Sometimes, i even listen to their songs months after their release date. Kpop is no longer one of my main hobbies but I eventually come back to it from time to time.

I even post them to AKP!!! (sometimes)

I try to watch content from my favorites and I don't mind.

But, I do get surprised when there's an influx of it out there so I can't quite stay on top and not become a bit overwhelmed. Regardless, I'm very glad there's content to watch.

I'm not the type of fan that watch a lot of content if it's not music or performance related.

Once in a while I will watch an interview, but variety shows, vlogs etc.. I don't watch 98%. I just will see short clips on Twitter. My faves have SO much content, I have no idea how they pull such views on all of it when they release so often. But clearly a lot of fans aren't like me and it will "never" be enough/too much.

But with performances and production/recordings I usually watch, and depending on MV, the MV Making.

The only content I watch is Going Seventeen.

Apart from that MVs and even then, I get bored. Unless its a really good song then I'll watch but otherwise, nah

I also don't watch much gg content outside of mvs and performances because I just enjoy bg content more.
