JYP milking the success of IU even tho he rejected her once! TWICE will be a guest on IU's Palette after Day6!

  • Do you think TWICE can top the K-Charts like Day6? 10

    1. Maybe for ONCE or TWICE a day!🙃 (5) 50%
    2. Yes (it's the IU "The power, power-up power, power")😉 (3) 30%
    3. No, TWICE is finished in Korea, they're a global group now.🥳 (2) 20%

Looks like IU have to make TWICE successful in Korea like she did with Day6! 😅

I hope JYP's knee is hurting.

Changed the title of the thread from “JYP milking the success of IU even tho he rejected IU once! TWICE will be a guest on IU's Palette after Day6!” to “JYP milking the success of IU even tho he rejected her once! TWICE will be a guest on IU's Palette after Day6!”.
  • SCANDALOUS!

Her own Youtube variety show, it's really good if you like to watch content with different musicians.

The main part of the show is giving platform for artists, and they always cover each other songs as well. My fave is probably the Kim Sejeong episode, because Sejeong is the biggest IU fangirl.😅

    Here's the full playlist!

  • I honestly pray for Jihyo, because she will be fangirling so hard.

You do realise that Sejeong and Jihyo are besties so it kinda runs in the family lol

  • JYPark never rejected IU, he never even met her then.

TWICE's schedule is planned a year in advance so it's pure luck that they were free to all attend IU's Event OR it could have been planned.

The fact is, IU has less work than TWICE.

Yes, I know. I think they appeared on "I Live Alone" as well? It was a lot of fun!😂

Also, it would be nice to finally hear Jihyo sing without autotune. I don't know what JYP did to her, but I don't think she's on the same level as she was back in the days. Probably the lack of vocal training, not sure. I don't follow TWICE regularly anymore.

  • Jihyo even said in SK they like Cheer Up and TT but everywhere else (or maybe she said the West or whatever the equivalent term is) they're liking ICSM and Set Me Free... They ain't recording for SK anymore.

    I'm ready for anything.

But this is kinda dumb, tho, because EVERY Kpop group is going to lose the interest in the West eventually, and the only thing they will have is Korea, and maybe Japan or China. Depends on the group. They should focus more on Asia and Korea, too. And it's not like focusing on Korea is that expensive. I'm 100% sure doing PR in the West is more expensive.

For the record: I don't think ANY group member want to ignore Korea, they're pretty much forced to do this by their agencies.

    Be serious, please!

1st: It's known fact that JYP rejected IU just like 20 other agencies! You can read the articles, even JYP talked about this.

2nd: If you don't follow IU, please don't spread misinformation. IU released a new album, did a World Tour, the biggest Kpop tour this year! She spent more than half the year outside of Asia! While shooting MV's, and content for her YT channel. Not to mention, shooting not 1 but 2 Kdrama as well! And I barely scratched the surface!

A rejection by JYPE is a rejection by JYP and he has expressed public regret for that, wishing to fire the employee who rejected IU in her audition with JYPE

IU was extremely busy this year, But in any case, it is well established that to go on Palette, it is the guest who should make the request and not IU/IU's team.

And then schedules are arranged/coordinated by both the teams.

Schedules fluctuate a lot, but it is foolish to assert that IU has less work - given her long list of endorsements, events, music/concerts, casting etc.,

So if IU has less work at point in time, she has earned it and it is by her own choice.

It applies to TWICE to an extent as well, but still not as much as it does to IU, who is effectively in control of her agency and management decisions - probably more than any top billing act in Kpop and for longer.

All 3 of the 3Mix are hardcore Uaena, but I would still rank Nayeon on the top.

This is a pretty popular fan video cut of Nayeon fangirling on IU

I think they knew their expiration date in SK, given the typical GG timeline, and pivoted to the West. But they're still delivering for Japan.

Don't Twice members now select their TTs?

It's not dumb at all to cater to the markets that are most profitable for you. If that isn't Korea, then so be it.

  • It's not dumb at all to cater to the markets that are most profitable for you. If that isn't Korea, then so be it.

Sure, but making it as THE MAIN market is dumb. That's what I was trying to say.

TWICE may be not charting that good in Korea anymore, but I don't think Korea isn't profitable for them anymore, and I don't think there's a single Kpop group that can have a long career in the West or should I say in the US, because that's the West.

I bet their career in the US is much shorter than their Asian one. Especially if we're only talking Charts and mainstream media outlets. If we're only talking about popularity, I'd say every group lose their fame after 3-5 years in the US if they're not BTS or BP. Blackpink is already in their 4th year I think, and BTS is in their 6th? For them, it's worse because of the military.

If I'm being honest, TWICE is doing better in the US because they release albums every year. In the US to maintain your popularity you have to do that. Especially if you're not American.

  • I think it's a great promotion for them and if they are going to IU then automatically they are promoting in Korea so it's not like they or jype don't care anymore about Korea. It's just that Korea moved on from them music wise, but as a top group they will always have chances to deliver another hit in koreans charts, maybe this cb will be this chance.

I do feel like they are promoting more in SK this time around. Agencies would like to ignore no market, but it is a question of how much promotional effort and money, is spent on each market, particularly in channels that don't reach other markets, but is specific to one.

And for TWICE, it did feel like Korea was not prioritized in recent years, but not ignored either and this time they are pushing it up.

Yes, I sure hope "Strategy" performs well on K-charts. IU definitely helps amplify, if there is potential.

I don't keep up with their promotions tbh, but going to a program that clearly helped others chart high in koreans charts is a good indicator that their plan is also Korea.

    IU influence is amazing actually.

Yes IU is influential, but she alone can't make it happen. For example, Sejeong went on IU's Palette, didn't really help her album Door or song Top or Cliff - though they were fantastic.

The guesting act must have some degree of fandom, then IU can push them up to the charts i.e., amplify.

TWICE has that, so hopefully it should be beneficial to them.

Though IU's biggest influence push was Oh My Girl's Dolphin, but then they had not guested with IU.

    Fingers crossed.

  • Oh, Top or Cliff is amazing, it deserved to be a hit!!

I remember, it was in 2020, right? Suddenly omg were topping the charts!
