I just realized MEOVV are literally charting in the MelOn Daily Top 100 and rising up to the 80s now even.
That's way, way better than Babymonster during their pre debut debut era

Meovv’s Spotify streams are really low!
Even in 2020 when Spotify streams were not inflated as now Aespa had 700k streams for Black Mamba on its first day! While Meovv had less than 500k!
Also Babymonster charted with Sheesh on top 10 Melon(their debut song) and Sheesh charted on Spotify global for 71 days! So by far Babymonster clears Meovv in every metric

Oh btw Babymonster is the most streamed 5th gen act on Spotify! And they have almost similar sales with Babymonster to Super Real Me from Illit!
Kind of lol. Batter Up was a weird case where it wasn't promoted though, whereas Meow has had some pretty extravagant live stages so far. Meovv was seeming like a threat but their debut fell pretty flat imo, although I like Meow.

All I know is that I’m still MEOVV’s top promoter on AKP, and that’s beyond charts. That’s true support.
At this point, optically and conceptually, MEOVV is more of the spiritual successor to BLACKPINK. BABYMONSTER is more like the YG version of NMIXX; I love their vocals. This is more of an observation as opposed to critique. I love all the groups that I mentioned.
Here are my thoughts, I like them both as far as group lineups, they both are very vocally and rapper heavy groups.
However, Baemon is being promoted the same way YG promoted Blackpink at the beginning of their careers, whereas Teddy is promoting Meovv as if they are an replacement for the Blackpink style of group while also letting them shine as themselves

Sheesh is not their debut song, even if YG tries so hard to sell it as a debut song. They debuted with Batter Up, and it was like a real batter, tasteless and boring.😅

That's the difference between me and you, I like KIOF so I won't say anything bad against them. But if you think they are anywhere near BM as far as overall popularity goes, you need a reality check. Idc how well KIOF is doing on kcharts when BM is dominating YT and Spotify, the 2 biggest streaming platforms on the planet. By the end of the year, their 2024 releases will be among the most streamed this year. Let me know when KIOF can crack 100m on either YT or Spoti, BM already has multiple times.

Just because it's Teddy group doesn't mean he can create Blackpink succesor again. Now you're consoling yourself because Baemon's debut song didn't chart. But Babymonster is more popular in every metric right now on Youtube, spotify, melon. I know Blackpink's debut song Whistle made all kill and pak. Blackpink is a group that became instantly popular. Then you have to objectively say that both of them failed in this regard. Baemon is still successful and very popular on Spotify and Youtube. I think these two platforms are more important than Melon right now.
