Because wtf this is 😭
Because wtf this is 😭
I feel like that kind of is the type of impression mainstream rap would give. It's not the gangsta rap from the early and mid 00s, but a lot of the mainstream releases that I've heard fit that type of vibe still, so it's probably still her impression.
If drill reaches Japan, we might see that Hello Kitty "gang gang" on a flopping rival's grave.
The fact that she's the groups "rapper" too
Do you know what sensitivity training? It’s being able to recognize when something just not it.

With her whole chest too and the thing is you know she’s doing it because she doesn’t know better that’s what makes it tragic lol.
rei is effortlessly hilarious
More like cringe and unlikable.

Eye- that’s… did you watch the rest of the video? She made the tanning kitty wear shorts called it hip hop and started doing some skrr skrrr
Look let’s not be dumb and stupid about this.
That’s cringe af.

So many issues in kpop like exo mocking kai's skin tone and rei having a tanning hello kitty , her own doll, and styling it with a little pant hip hop style that she probably find cute is problematic? Lmao. Actually it looks like finding a problem with it is more problematic cause what exactly are the implications of what she did?
Can't she style a tanning hello kitty with hip hop outfits now? What would even be the difference if it was a ballerina outfit, it's a goddamn toy
Op took that a little too personal.
I only ever expected you to fall on your face, which is exactly what's happening with this weird thread.
Sure drag EXO for what they did I don’t really care lol. Make a thread tag me too if you want. If you see my title it literally says idols need sensitivity training. Won’t catch me dead defending exo for the shit they did in the past.
Bold that’s what sensitivity training is genius. It’s knowing not to do cringe stuff like this.

It’s really not lol.

I don’t really stan them lol. Just another idol who’s a little too annoying and unlikable among many others.

Oh never mind i'll buy what you're saying. Rei who literally have a whole collection of plushies and hello kitty themed items is soo insensitive for choosing to style her tanning hello kitty with hip hop pants omg what a racist
Again did you miss the part where she goes gang gang skrrr skrrr calls it hip hop vibes along with making it wear the shorts
Look catzi I know it’s your forte to play stupid, but you’re not fooling anyone.
Also I didn’t call her racist. I’m calling her stupid and insensitive.
These type of things are micro aggressions that people do without even knowing it’s wrong.

Lol as a brazilian i have no clue what's the big deal gang gang skrr skrr isn't that said in hip hop songs? If it's a slur like the n word then I get your point but here's some shocking news the rest of the world have their own issues to identify everything that is problematic in the united devastates

There’s no use talking to people like you
“Oh it hurt the people’s feeling in YOUR country? Who caresssssss. Americans are sooo insensitive to others issues as well so it’s totally right to be rude/racist/micro aggressive/etc to them ”
I dislike people like this and I dislike people who think like this. So sure defend your favs like they pay you to do it.
It’s my prerogative to call her insensitive and stupid and I’ll continue to do that and we aren’t going to reach consensus.

Thats what being sensitive means. It’s being aware that some things can offend others. Eye-
Now you can say “I don’t care if it offends others” tbh there’s nothing to argue beyond that people.
And it’s also not up to you to decide what should and shouldn’t be sensitive to others.
For me it’s quite obvious to NOT see a Tan doll and give it stereotypical hip hop image and use some random AAVE in a cringe cutesy voice, but that’s just me.

Nah if you feel upset about it that's your right, I won't invalidate it. I don't doubt some people genuinely felt offended by it. But don't expect everyone to understand what's the deal about this when just the thought of finding a hello kitty video problematic sound ridiculous when there's no context for people who don't know why it's supposed to be problematic.
Is the problem that she is like "Tanned skin = hip hop" or something?
Seems like people also had problems with her saying "gang gang". Not sure if it is a case of her saying some words that sound cool, but doesn't know what they mean. (I was kinda like this when I was younger, using words like "swag", "gangsta" etc...)

It’s everything put together that makes it very cringe.

Your reply here is what I’m also saying “idols need sensitivity training”
That’s like the whole point of the thread, that yes they don’t know but they should be taught about it especially considering 90% of kpop is hip hop indeed and also they all love promoting in the US as well as that American money.
Not just America but also the need for them to be more global in general requires them to be a lot more sensitive than the average citizen. I interact with Asian vendors and customers and team mates for example and both us and them go thought sensitivity training so that our interactions are not micro aggressive.
Under no circumstances can you randomly stereotype like this. Maybe in your part of the world such educations isn’t common but in my part of the world like tomorrow this example would have been added to the training video and we would all have had to watch it.
Like Ves tell me you go through the micro aggression and sensitivity training too like eye- I can’t blv ppl think this is strange. When you work in global organizations you go through them quite frequently.

Fair enough. I agree now that I understand your point better because stereotypes are indeed always offensive in every part of the world including here in Brazil. The thing is, stereotypes change depending on the country and that's why it took me longer to understand what was even the stereotype in the video aside the hip hop pants + tan skin (which I did found dumb to consider problematic). That's more of a global issue. I understand that money is important but I doubt americans know what's even considered a stereotype in Japan or Brazil.
"Sensitivity training" reminds me of when I have heard of "sensitivity readers".
Explanation:
A sensitivity reader is someone who reads for offensive content, misrepresentation, stereotypes, bias, lack of understanding, etc. They create a report for an author and/or publisher outlining the problems that they find in a piece of work and offer solutions in how to fix them.
