What turned IVE into a B tier group?

  • Their music since Baddie, a bit downgraded. Their concept gotten lots of love, but the music didn't meet expectations. Also, their global digital performance is not on par with their peers, which is a big loss.

We know a comeback is as good as the last one within 4th gen, so they might bounce back.

  • I mean, let's be real. Hype fade away pretty fast, especially if a group, (not just IVE) don't release good (trendy) enough songs. IVE's latest album is average. Sad to say this, but still, it's true. It's not like NJ's new album is better, they're just more mainstream even with their crazy Kdrama. They have one more chance, and they will experience the same "flop"!

I think IVE and NJ (I mean their agencies) thought: "Shit, we're on top, let's stop making good and creative music, kids will stream it anyway, because we're mainstream."

    Well, there goes your mainstream.

  • They still doing ok. But Instagram followers is why.

Aespa has all members with a high number of followers.

What this essentially means is while they were trending as a top group, they didn't gain as many hard core fans since all members are not stan attracters.

I suspect NJ may also have the same issue. There may be a huge gap between the popularity of Minji and Hanni and the others. This might explain the 62% drop in Spotify unfiltered streams and 46.4% drop in album sales this comeback.

  • How much I've drop?

  • This comeback, they had 2 good songs instead of 1 or 2 very good songs, and the result was a 62% drop in Spotify Global unfiltered streams and 46.4% drop in album sales.

Their success was dependent on having a very good song, which you cannot always guarantee. Hybe Boy, Attention, ETA, Ditto, Super Shy were stockpiled for them by Hybe from their pre-debut. Its unlikely MHJ can produce another very good song for them again. Hybe will give the very good songs to Katseye or Illit.

They actually rise a bit in Spotify, but its something I don't like point out.

  • Tokkis made a whole threads not about NJ but about IVE only because a troll made a thread to trigger them saying aespa was #1

And well......looking at this thread seems like the goal of this troll was achieve

Aespa is #1 though. They competed at the same time and

    1. Aespa beat them in Spotify Global

    2. Aespa beat them in Album Sales

    3. Aespa even beat them in Melon, which is the least important

3 out of 3. We really don't look at anything else nowadays.

Koreans are success stans and follow the trend, and they will most likely flip over and success stan Aespa now instead of NJs.

Baddie was literally their best song

Soon they won't even have the lollapalooza to brag about either bc ive will perform at a sold out lollapalooza and become the first kpop 4th gen artist to be played both at lolla and coachella in the same year thanks to grimes who played baddie remix in her concert at coachella :skull:

  • How are they b tier when they are the best sellers so far now that fraud sales stopped and didn't got an embarrassing 50% drop on album sales like aespa and newjeans did? They also have decent streams and views, and so far are the only decent touring girl group out of their generation?

Ive for sure declined compared to their love dive - i am peak but they are still an A tier girl group, b tier is for stayc, nmixx or itzy.

and the talk of the town rebecame newjeans lol my flop babies :teddy-pepe: .

also all these songs are mhj/ador songs gtfo. the freaking nerve X( .

and their new songs are doing pretty good even for just 'good songs' in korea. only song of the year supernova is toping them. so nj as a group is a solid one.

they aren't doing as well on spotify because of bad promo so they lost a lot of casuals.

casual who do indeed care the most about how good a song is. but still, the main problem was promo.

for example you can compare with their itune stats, they had good debut numbers but the songs didn’t reach big heights and fast lost momentum compared to their other tracks because they're not great songs.

easy. the hybe stans boycott is not very consequent because as we can see their other songs didn’t lost streams or anything.

they just lost casuals because of bad/weak promo and even their fandom isn't jamming to how sweet/bg that hard either.

    that's it.

NJ raised their own bar too high with those songs. Same goes for IVE. This is the reason I prefer balanced groups. If a company aiming to release hits after hits and not great music, they will flop eventually. Even if IVE and NJ didn't flop that hard. Compared to themselves, they're not performing well. I hardly listen any NJ song, but on IVE's latest album I only liked 3 songs, I think, but I don't even remember the titles. That says a lot.

    Enjoy

Tickets sales has nothing to do with the quality of their songs! Concerts are 99% about loyal fans.

  • People can't keep NewJeans out their mouths and then wonder why I end up joining the discussion and going after said people for their out of pocket comments. Does it hurt you all that much to know that there is a girl group significantly more popular than your own? Yet you still claim to not be success stans?

I loved Mamamoo back when they sold on average 3k albums and barely scraped the bottom of the charts, if at all. It took a year for their first top 5 breakout hit, and then another 8 months for their first #1 song. That's almost two years of unwavering support regardless of chart results.

Yet you spoiled brats get all triggered, when you stan groups that had a ton of privilege and attention since debut, and even before it, looking at Izone.

What brittle spirits you all have.

  • Only the top tier groups are doing that so that makes IVE the first B-tier group to do it

    Wheres Aespa??

  • Because starship knows that they have to bring novelty in terms of concept/music, they fear the public will get sick of the same concept.

also they want ive to get a stronger fandom and appeal to womens more rather than just focus on pleasing gp. and also appeal more to global market.

so that's why they went into a more youtfull, high teen and trendy direction which was different from their roots.

And to make it simple the problem is that:

    IVE=Wonyoung and Wonyoung=IVE

ive is basically wonyoung and friends. her aura and presence is way too overbearing. her rich girls princess vibe IS her main concept which also became IVEs core concept as well.

and well she isn't very good at digesting other concepts. so when ive changes concepts too much, gp gets confused and can't recognize ive anymore.

also won is a beauty queen but she isn't a very interesting idol or perfomer. not specially talented in anything either. she has the star factor of a model or smth, not of a pop star.

and visuals tend to lose hype and momentum faster than idols who have more pop star factor and/or who are more talented like Taeyeon or Jennie or even Naeyon. specially in such a fast paced and competitive market.

I don't know if people realize but wonyoung hype is already +5 years old. It's the average lifespan of a beauty queen in the industry. Like Tzuyu too for example.

so when wonyoung lost momentum so did ive. because the mistake starship did was to not promote other girls enough and for whatever reason to turn ive into wonyoung and friends.
