What I really don’t understand about ILLIT K-netizens-dont-understand-why-ILLIT-sells-so-many-albums-but-their-fans-dont-vote-1024x677.webpWhat-I-really-dont-understand-about-ILLIT-1.jpgWhat-I-really-dont-understand-about-ILLIT-2.jpg

Even though 380,000 copies of their debut album were sold in the first week, their votes on M Countdown were strangely low….. What is it really?

    [+125, -5]

    1. [+66, -5] That’s HYBEㅋㅋㅋ

    2. [+50, -1] HYBE always makes people suspicious

    3. [+44, -2] Nothing surprising anymoreㅋㅋㅋㅋ…

    4. [+41, -1] Just look at global Spotify figures, they have a lot of overseas fans, but I don’t understand why even 10% of them don’t vote

    5. [+14, -0] Looking at the number of views and comments on the MV, they don’t have foreign fans..

    6. [+13, -0] Isn’t it true that only core fans buy albums?ㅋ Why don’t they vote?

    7. [+12, -0] I wonder if they are popular in Korea or not, and Melon’s Weekly Popularity Award went to Baby Monsterㅋㅋㅋ Where are their fans?

    8. [+9, -2] If you watch their live encore stage, even if you’re a fan, I don’t think you’ll want to vote…

K-netizens don’t understand why ILLIT sells so many albums but their fans don’t vote – Pannkpop

  • combination of reasons.

    1. the other fandoms are bigger and stronger and louder

    2. voting is fucking tedious ain't nobody got time for that

    3. bulk buying doesn't = voting

I'm gonna go with 2....'cause not even i don't got time for that

    unless it's Infinite...

  • Even at my peak hardcore MooMoo lifestyle, I could not be bothered to deal with the annoyances of trying to vote for these music shows, and I ain't afraid to admit it :pepe-shrug:

  • bec many hybe stans buy their albums. if only 1% of all those multi stans within hybe buy at least 1 album then it makes sense. but voting is another level, only loyal fans will vote . even multi's dont vote . i think in general debuting in hybe means selling at least 400 k units or more esp if the song is a hit

  • I stopped voting for anything years ago because they always make you download an app and earn points or something. I think fans are kinda tired of it maybe?

  • Ok. Well, let's see what happened after 1st week.

ILLIT sold 100k+ copies (15 days after 1st week)

Some people like ILLIT music, but not everyone wants vote (different time zones, don't have time, some people are just lazy and this is normal).

  • they are a rookie group. they achieved plenty without voting. Why do something so tedious. They debuted in hot 100 they already did plenty for debut why overkill with wins by voting when it doesn't give them a daesang.

  • The group just debuted. Their survival audition show wasn't popular, so they lacked a fanbase pre-debut. Over time they'll build up a fanbase. Their next comeback will do better voting wise as their fans have grown and will be better coordinated in voting.

  • Doesn't it go both ways?if Illicit has lazy voters. Sheesh would also have lazy voters. It's just fandom gap.if multis are voting then they are picking baby monster.

  • Their voting ranking doesn’t mean their sales are fraudulent :fingerk:

Buying an album isn’t as tedious and confusing as voting. Only those who are dedicated will go through downloading an app, collecting tickets/hearts/stars and watch ads…

This is common for most ggs. Especially since they are new. They’ll build a bigger fanbase with time.

  • It really just depends on what type of fans they have. If we compare Baemon and TXT for example, Baemon's fans seem to be shaping up to be streaming and voting monsters, while most TXT fans don't bother with those things and tend to focus more on things that benefit themselves directly (buying albums, buying merch, going to concerts, etc).

Add to that the fact that ILLIT's fandom doesn't really seem to have any strong discernible characteristics yet, and it's not really surprising that they haven't banded together to vote for them.

  • Baemon have mostly southeast asian fans specifically thai, indo, and ph fans that are monster voters that is why they also have high views on yt while ILLIT on the other hand don't really have much of a solid fanbase atm... their fans are mostly multis or from cn/jp that bulk buy albums but don't really care much about votings, while some are just lazy voters (the die-hard voters on R U Next are mostly Jiwoo and Chanelle fans).

The user above said it all they have more casual fans than dedicated fans. Casual fans can buy albums if they love the tracks, but they aren't dedicated enough to download apps and watch ads or collect hearts/stars everyday to vote.

  • Doesn't it go both ways?if Illicit has lazy voters. Sheesh would also have lazy voters. It's just fandom gap.if multis are voting then they are picking baby monster.

You started making your fandom in early 2023 with 'Last Evaluation'. Jennie and Lisa mentored BM. Of course, this situation added more Jennie and Lisa fans to join in the new BM fandom. 2023 debut + Batter Up + more fans in your fandom.

What about ILLIT. The unpopular show, 2 most popular girls didn't choose, - 1 member, only Minji speaks a little bit on English.

ILLIT debuted 25 days ago, and fandom started to build at the same time.

But you know, I think all ILLIT fandom say "thanks" to you guys. Because you more promote ILLIT, than Hybe.

And what do you mean by "Illicit"?

  • Don't know anything about what you just mentioned.

Looking at the numbers they seem have bigger fandom. That's it

In the future that could change.right now no

Numbers? This ILLIT fans who love listening to their music and bought their album. ILLIT has 4 wins now. Maybe INKIGAYO next.

  • An interesting fact: in the first 24 hours, their new video on YouTube had 9.8 million views, only 140k likes (in fact, there were 100k likes in the first 24 hours) and only 6k comments. Why so few? They are discussed everywhere, the brand's reputation is number 1, records in Spotify, Apple, Melon, but people are not interested in them. Hybeyola in action. ^^

    H.P. , of course :pepe-toast:

Also, cheers to Illit's BBHot 100 debut although I wonder how Hybe payolaed their way there.

  • JK's Fandom, like myself tbh, can't be bothered to vote but we do stream a LOT though.

3 of his songs are still charting on Spotify global chart and each songs have already 200 days and more.

The fandom only vote when there's a chance to win so that we can focus on voting for other nominations while streaming as well.
