What's the consensus on Joy of Red Velvet as a vocalist? Yea or Nay?

I liked Hello and her vocal color in several Red Velvet songs. Her ambition is in acting, but another music release would be good.

Very mid. Forgettable, generic, an average vocal color that 90 percent of GG idols have.

Joy is one of SM's unique vocalists. While I agree that she's average, I disagree that she sounds generic. She sounds nosal, like Jessica but has a very sweet tone like NCT Doyoung which makes her so unique. She sounds very distinctive to Wendy, Seulgi or even Irene who has a unique tone as well.

She sounds beautiful. She should release another album.

For an idol she is above average.

But if you compare her to Lena Park or EXID Solji, nope.

That group is very small. I remember they used to give grades, and very very few idols were even close to the top soloists. Some idols mentioned recently in threads as being "great" singers, were just clustered around average, and some even below average. Then they stopped giving grades, because all the stans of idols started crying, including Ta*y**** stans.

She's a good singer no doubt, just her voice tone is not really my cup of tea

she is in a group of great vocalist, that is way people could say nay to her if you compair her to Wendy or Seulgi

i still think she has a nice voice.

If you put her next any LS member you would say she excels

Joy has a very beautiful tone & voice but her technique is lowkey kinda mid. I'd say yea. If I were to objectively rank Joy as a vocalist based on an imaginary criteria that I'm making up right now, I'd give her a 6.8 out of 10 👍

I don't know about technical skill but her voice has this sweetness and clarity to it. A clean-ness that I can't quite explain. Like Irene and Yeri, it adds another dimension to RV's harmonies and supports their two power vocals.
