Like you looked at the album chart and all you’d see is EXO and no one else. That’s how it was for multiple years.

Now everyone sells more than them which is fine which is the way of life but no one group is dominating so thoroughly which ofc is great for kpop but also imo makes EXO so very impressive.

Honestly, it's cool they are still the top. These days we got rookie group debut albums with sales over 2 million physicals, and other lesser-known rookie groups I have never seen anyone talking about on this site that sale 300K-500K physical albums on debut. The industry is just crazy rn.

EXO was very dominant for many years as far as kpop is concerned. It's one of the reasons why I think they are so famous and popular among non-fans, if you were a kpop stan EXO was very hard to skip. They were the biggest group, so many used to listen and like them by default and their only real competition was Bigbang who were much older and had very few comebacks

I only joined kpop boards when this phase was ending (The War era, although I was listening to them since Monster), and I think kpop must have been very boring with EXO winning every award lol

I didn't know about this record, but it shows their success.

Since Kpop became exponentially bigger since they debuted, it's hard sometimes for people to realize how big they were when comparing it to today's numbers, so this is a good indicator.

Idk, I feel like jt was still interesting because exols were annoying little shits and made spectacle out of everything.

For kpop in that era exo was huge but I don't feel like they were spreading kpop the way other groups do right now. It looked like everyone joined was into kpop for exo and exo only.

I joined the fandom way before Monster #flex and I felt like whole world was exo, they felt larger than life.

They were having comeback, repackage, tour, festivals, winter album in between, tours, solo activities, messy on social media, scandals, people dragging them for not being funny, lame fandom drags, exols biting back... there was never one boring day with them. I never thought exo will enter their retired era May it end soon, Amin.
