They have 5 nominations and are one of the most nominated female acts, I can't think of a K-pop group more deserving than them to perform on the award.

OP, Armys (ie BTS stans) still do call out privilege when it is blatant. So you must be talking about Hybe stans who pretend company privilege only applies to other companies.

I see ARMYs point out the privilege tho..

I think New Jeans deserve to perform, I don't like HYBE or Armys but this is the one thing I can say they deserved. HYBE is the biggest K-pop company right now, so it's no surprise that New Jeans was chosen. I guess you can say it's company privilege, but every company uses their status to get what they want. This is nothing new.

What you don’t get it is that ARMY was loud because of BTS, not because of the company.

BTS still made it without company privilege, and that’s the most important thing to remember. BTS even made the company to have the privilege for other acts to reap the rewards.

If we want to talk about BTS privilege, every group who is promoting in the west is benefiting from that including your faves so NJs is just one of them. it has been happening quite frequently for Armys to care about it anymore lol

Why are you mentioning armys? Armys are bts fans and bts had no privilege. However, bts made a company whose artists are now privileged. Some would want to deny but groups that come from big 4 are extremely privileged, they have passionate fandoms even before debuting (have we forgotten jype's blink package?)

Would newjeans do well without coming from big 4? Yes, they would, but their success would go slower.

Having said that; they deserve the spot, they did extremely well this year, and nobody is more deserving than them

Who is more deserving than NJ tho.

NJ has multiple big hits with Super Shy and OMG this year.

You’re tripping if you think there’s a group more deserving to attend the BBMA’s over NewJeans this year. They literally beat the Barbie soundtrack.

NJ is the only kpop group derserving those nominations in 2023 though. They can back it up with charting and stats.

If it were other groups, I would give side eye.

While I'm sure there are many Army who hate Big 3 privilege but especially SM and SM group fandoms, I'm also pretty certain that there are many Army - probably a majority even - that don't care about Hybe or any privilege it provided for the newer Hybe groups that came after BTS

Being an Army and caring about BTS doesn't make you automatically a Bighit or HYBE company stan. In fact, the majority probably aren't or couldn't care less about BH/HYBE.

Twice did extremely well in touring, but their digital is not really that strong.

there is only one group doing well in the USA is 50-50 but we know what the hell happening, they self-imploded
