2018 Ddu Ddu Ddu had higher chances to win Based on digitals but BTS had Physicals and Votes so maybe they cancelled each other out
Signal shouldnt have won in 2017, it shouldve been Knock Knock. Not only did it chart better, im also a salty knock knock enthusiast. The nominations for 2018 were really good so honestly i think anyone couldve win and it'd make sense.

In 2017 it should have been Through the night, if we assume it had to be a group because MNET is MNET and it will always be biased it should have been Spring day, Really really, AIIYL, RF or Knock knock, but definitely not Signal which wasn't even among the 10 biggest songs of the year, maybe not even 20, that didn't make any sense. Signal was the first song produced by Jyp given to Twice though, I've always thought it was related.
2018 should have been locked for Love scenario, 2nd option would be DDDD, and then there were other 4-5 options (more if you include soloists) that would make more sense than What is love.
MAMA has never been fair, recently they've been because BTS was so above the rest that them sweeping the awards was always fair, but Mnet has a huge collection of unfair awards and it's definitely the most biased award show (among the relevant ones)
2016? Absolutely. BlackPink wasn't even in the conversation. Their digitals weren't even top 10 that year. What are those people even talking about?
2017? Technically the biggest song of that year was Red Flavor. I don't know how Signal won that year, and I vividly remember the outrage when it did win.
As If It's Your Last would be 3rd; it wasn't aided by being overshadowed by Yes I Am in its first month of charting.
2018? I don't know how BlackPink or Ikon didn't win this year. This is where MAMA loses any credibility.

I think 2017 was really really no? Really Really was just released later but doubt winner attended Mama in 2017.

And while Cheer Up deserved 2016, the gap between it and Rough wasn't big at all. Rough actually had slightly more downloads by year end.
2017 was because a certain 24 years old (her real age was only revealed in 2019) had won t he Lifetime Achievement Award back in 2014 so was not eligible for the Grand Prize

Like we really going over this again? Twice and BTS were the top of the top group and it was obvious MAMA was splitting the awards between them. So usuallly BTS would get album and Twice would get Song. You don’t see once’s complaining that RV would girl group of the year in 2017z why because RV also deserved to win that award.

When you realize how Mama gives out awards there is a clear logic. The name of the award doesn’t matter too much. It’s a calculation. BTS and Twice at that time were the biggest groups. They had been splitting best album and song of the year in 2016 and 2017. So it happened again in 2018. Basically Song of the Year became a prize for Twice as they were blocked from Album of the Year by BTS. Which isn’t saying BTS didn’t deserve that they did. So Twice did deserve song of the year when you recognize the politics behind it not just the name of the reward.
If barely Big3 label at that time is able to bribe MAMA for daesangs, then anyone can right now. Twice was the bigger name compared to Ikon, BP, Red Velvet and Gfriend, hence why they won SOTYs.
