Not necessarily. Some people like doing both or they vape inside and smoke outdoors. Or sometimes they're out of their vape and get a pack or bum a ciggy instead. Vapes have different flavors so it's a different experience to smoking.

He said this in American Hustle life when he was a 15 or 16 year old, i think overtime as BTS became more and more famous and them having to deal with a shit ton of expectations from fans, the public and the company as the sole breadwinner for several years maybe he felt the need to smoke as a relaxing/calming mechanism

Yup likely the case. I've known many people who have been in situations where they'd swore they'd never be like their parents etc but end up doing the same thing. If you asked most couldn't give you an honest answer, but some will tell you their situation drove them to it, which isn't wrong, but there are other ways to deal with these things instead of self destructive ways like smoking drinking or god forbid drugs, got to get people to realize that the "easy way out" isn't always the best choice for both short and long term.
