It’s been a month and EXO are still charting melon daily my shock was paramount 🫡

EXO are doing well enough on all platforms so like for 2023

1. Seventeen (the clear winning with both intl and domestic charting and insane sales

2. TXT also charts both in Korea and internationally and has good sales

3. EXO they also have charted in korea and I don’t hate their international charting as well.

4,5 Dream and SKZ : in that order they have only one of international and domestic charting. En- can be here too but SKZ are I believe higher than them internationally marginally.

Only the first two are solid imo.

Curious who would you place after Dream considering BTS hiatus?

I'm between NCT 127 and Enhypen, I feel like they are currently tied. I see more potential in Enhypen to grow bigger as 127 will start their military service too soon and they've been releasing popular songs to expand their public like 'Bite Me' recently.

In Korea things are a bit more blurry. Ay Yo got #1 on circle chart but was a clear fandom driven thing. A mere 5 weeks later the song was already at position 116. Cream Soda is at pitful 92 on its 5th week, considering how week is fandom support for EXO in Korea nowadays I do believe this must be mostly GP keeping the song alive, but barely

As a moa I get that.

Txt is far above in domestic charts but skz has a very strong core fandom and is getting stronger in Japan and us, both parts of txt's stronger points.

Like I said the difference result is in core fandom, skz has more stans but txt attracts more outside of that (and not just because of collabs uh).

It makes txt's Spotify and YT results less stable although we're working on it

On another note it doesn't help that there were a moa exodus (pun intended) on here so very few txt achievements were displayed here

BTS (Even in hiatus they have proven they are still the most popular group this year overall)

Skz: they have sales and do better streams only second to BTS on this list

Seventeen: They do well in Korea and Japan and have sales but globally I find them underwhelming

Txt: Good streams and sales. But just good. They aren’t really an outlier anywhere

NCT dream/Enhypen: NCT Dream have the 3rd best digitals after seventeen this year. Their sales are alright. Enhypen does better internationally. So it really depends on what achievement you focus on

Cause there isn't any market in the world Stray Kids isn't bigger than TXT apart from Korea. I mean, most people seem to be aware of that.

This is my list in order:

1. BTS

For obvious reasons.

2. SEVENTEEN

They are having a great year overall, and by far their most successful year. They #1 in digitals in Korea from the boy group department this year, internationally they are doing pretty good too. They are also #1 in sales as well. Sales are absolutely phenomenal, 6M for FML and 3M for their back catalogue. Haven’t started tour yet, but they gathered 200k K-fans in Seoul just for FML street promotion without even being there. So, tour looks like it will be going big. Their general public recognition has skyrocketed in Korea since the release of Super.

3. Stray Kids

I don’t keep up with them much, but they’re doing pretty good on Spotify this year (pretty sure they are #1 in this compartment), and have had amazing sales and seem to be starting on a good foot for their tour.

4/5. NCT Dream

2nd to Seventeen in digitals in Korea (if I recall correctly). ISTJ didn’t seem to do as well as Candy, but the way Candy is performing on charts is noteworthy. Good physicals.

4/5. TXT

Would say they are on the same page as NCT Dream over all. Good digitals for a 4th generation boy group, had good sales, and good tour as well.

Yeah but I feel the gap between SKZ and TXT is much higher in Korea than the gap between txt and SKZ in the rest of the world. So I’d still place them above. And I believe you’re going to see that gap become even narrower with more comebacks for TXT…where as I don’t think the gap in Korea is ever going to be bridged (could be wrong but that’s how it seems like for now)

Yeah but I feel TXT is in top 3 international popularity where as SKZ is not even in contention in Korea so that’s why I thought more people would place TXT above SKZ.

I can't speak for others, but for me, "International" is not one only thing while Korea is another. When we talk about international markets, we need to measure, at least the biggest ones, individually. For example, there are 6 other markets bigger than South Korea and most of them Stray Kids' popularity can cover the difference between both in Korea up, like the European ones and Japan (currently).
